1956 Plymouth Fury 2 Dr. Hardtop

Frame Off, Major Judged Trophy Winner,1st Year Fury, 1 Model Year Car, Rare Factory 2x4 bbl Set Up, Daytona Record Holder.

Seller Will Pay $1000 toward shipping costs

1956 was the first year of the Fury, and this car does have the available 2x4 bbl carburetor set up. It is known to be one of the first muscle cars from Plymouth. They where all white with the anodized gold trim. They are extremely rare and we have not found anther one in this kind of condition. We spent over a year looking.

Current owner bought car this spring from a private collector in New Jersey.,and has received 14 awards or trophies judged out of 14 shows in 2019. A decision to move to Florida permanently has changed car show interest. The car had a frame off restoration prior to last 2 owners. Car has recently received tune up, transmission service and has been resealed as needed. New radial tires and caps, dash light repair and power steering leak repair. Owner installed new wire caps, but original caps do come with the purchase of the car. Car has been meticulously tweaked to the highest standards.

* Frame off restoration of the highest quality

* 2x4 bbl Factory set up

* Coker Classic Radials

* Power windows

* Power seats

* Power brakes

* Power steering

* Am/Fm radio

* Rear speaker

Paint-

* It matches well all the way around, and is polished beautiful smooth and shiny.

* There is no question it is very professionally done, and if you look closely(in fluorescent lights)there are maybe a couple of almost mynute imperfection exist but its about as nice as you could imagine.

* No actual knowledge of the paints age. It was painted prior to the last two owners, and believed to be not to many years before that.

* I was unable to find any scratches any place on the car. There are however a few touched up nicks located on the back edges of the doors, and on the gap between the hood and fenders. This is pretty typical as the hoods do not always come down perfectly straight no matter how careful you are.

* Car does come with extra touch up paint.

Body-

* The body is nice and straight and similar to what you would have seen when the car was built new

* The fits are all fairly uniform, and we do not see any dents, or creases anywhere in the car. (See pics)

Magnets-

* On each panel of the car we took a couple random reading with the magnetic paint gauge, and all surfaces in white that are above the gold side trim are mostly in the range of 4-8 mils of material. This indicates that most likely body remained mostly unaltered or repaired.

* On each side below the gold were slightly higher readings which may indicate light door ding, or minor rust repair that appears to be very minimal if any.

* Over all the body does not have a lot of paint and or other material upon its metal surface which indicates this might have been a car that lived most of its life in a dryer area, or used on select days.

Bright Work-

* The bright work on this car is not only stunning and beautiful, but it is in amazing nice and like almost new condition.

* Upon inspection of the bright work it appears to be fastened properly and secured with no issues.

* The stainless as well as the chrome all looks like that of a car just a couple years old, not perfectly brand new but close to it.

* We did not find any dings or dents in the bumpers or even on the trim. The bumpers all look to be re chromed as the finish to fairly close to flawless. The only exceptions we could find were 2 pin head size dings in the left drip rail and one in the left sail panel area. (See Pics)

Glass-

* The glass is in near flawless condition with all 6 side glass windows and the rear window being labeled PPG Solex Herculite.

* The windshield is a PPG Solex Duplate.

* All of the glass is nice and clear and we do not see any discoloring, or delamination that is apparent near the edges.

* The rear glass and the side glass might have a couple of light scratches, but are almost undetectable.

* We do not see any wiper marks on the windshield, but there are some light pin head size nicks from normal use. We also did notice some light multiple scratches close by about 3 inches from the left lower corner, and than about 3 inches further away from that a very small nick. Over all the glass is in really nice condition.

Interior-

* The interior is absolutely stunning! Again there is so much attention to details when it comes to making it look as new and original as possible.

* It is not unusual for a car like this to get new upholstery and carpet, but if you look at these seats having the original style cloth with the gold inserts, and the condition of the bright work as well as the paint of the dash, the dash its self, gauges, steering wheel and emblem again it goes to show how much this cars reeks of quality work!

* Interior appears to have minimal exposure to sun, the sun visors are good and solid with good coloring. The headliner is all solid with good sewing and seams, and held tight in place.

* The seats are beautifully done, not only the cloth inserts but the black that goes across the bottom.

* The doors panels look like a piece of art! When you look at the tan, chrome, moldings, and the cloth together it is just spectacular. When you look across the dash that iconic push button powerflite, and clarity of the gauges, the correct Fury Tachometer, the chrome and bright work against the different fabrics I can not say enough about it!

* The only two areas that could be anything less than perfect would be the fit of the carpet, and the left kick panel could use some manipulation there to straighten it up a bit. Also, if you look closely at the right front edge of the passenger seat has some issue with the material that can hardly be seen, but does exist. (See Pics)

* There is additional section of interior cloth fabric that does go with the car.

Trunk-

* The trunk is just very nicely finished off with the light gray side and back panels, and you will notice the flooring materials. When you look at the attention to detail of the paint and the wiring harness running underneath on each side of the trunk latch its pretty amazing.

* You will see there is a spare tire as well as the jack. The clips you see on the standard spare are the clips to secure the original style hubcaps in place.

Tires and Wheels-

* Coker Classic Radials

* These are an additional set of hubcaps that where purchased new just this spring, as well as mounting of 4 new Coker Classics radial tires.

* We do not see any age, cracking, curb damage or dents of any kind.

* 4 Standard caps come with car purchase. (See Pics)

* Left Front- 215/75/15 11-12/32 Tread Remaining

* Left Rear- 215/75/15 11-12/32 Tread Remaining

* Right Front- 215/75/15 11-12/32 Tread Remaining

* Right Rear- 215/75/15 11-12/32 Tread Remaining

Engine and Transmission-

* When you look under the hood you will find that it is a very authentic right down to the mopor windshield washer bag, and a like original style battery.

* If you look even closer you will see the attention to detail, like the detailed nuts and bolts of the chassis. The fan box, power brake booster, and everywhere you look the strive to make it look as original and correct as possible.

* The pop up vent that is behind the hood and in front of the windshield is not only neat looking, but is a great option to have for comfort when driving in warm weather.

Chassis-

* Please look at the photos in regards to the chassis, we where not able to get the car on a rack due to the weather. If you look closely at all the pictures posted on our website you can see that the frame was coated or painted as well as the bottom side in a great amount of detail in restoring the bottom side as well. Notice the polished hardware, gas tank, etc.

* The current owner was told when he bought the car that they do not know the actual total mileage. The previous owner believed that maybe the odometer reflects the mileage since it was restored, but really did not positively know.

Test Drive-

The car starts up well cold with one pump to the floor. When warm starts up immediately without touching the gas at all. It runs very smoothly, and it is obvious when you listen to the exhaust that as part of the 2x4 bbl combination available from Plymouth, you can tell it came with more of a high performance cam shaft just by listing.(Listen to video) It steers very smoothing, and the power assist seems to be working properly, and seems correct. The transmission seems to up shift and down shift smoothly, and upon applying the brakes the car comes to a nice quick stop smoothly without pulsation. The car tracks very straight and does not pull to one side or the other, and the owner commented that he agrees with Chads experience driving and that it appears to operate as it was designed to.

Mechanical-

* Lever for opening cowl vent works

* Parking brake holds

* Horn works

* All four power windows go up and down, quickly and smoothly

* Starting car cold you pump it one time, and turn it over and she fires right up

* Headlights work

* High beams work

* Windshield wipers work

* Brake lights work- per owner

* Left turn signals work, front and rear

* Right turn signals work, front and rear

* Push button gear selector works in forward and reverse

* Heat works

* 2 dome and 2 courtesy lights under the dash all work

* Vents windows open on the left and right side and locking mechanism works

* Key works well in ignition and just had new ignition switch put in this year

* Door locks maybe need lubed, key did not fit easily
