Description

Up for auction is an extremely rare original factory wood panel Plymouth Horizon. Apparently only 227 total were made as a promotional model for dealers to display in the showroom to introduce the brand new Horizon. There are promotional brochures describing the car on the internet, I have never seen any details about another surviving original example although there is at least one restored clone. I can find no information on how many of these were 4 speeds but I am guessing not many. This super rare car would certainly be unique at any car show.
I have owned this car for the last 18 months and have driven it 3 times for a total of about 75 miles. It starts easily, runs well, and the ride is quite smooth. The car stops well and the tires are in good shape. To describe the shifter as finicky would be a huge understatement as I have found first gear only once. All of the gears and the clutch do work properly. The lights, signals, flashers, heater, AM/FM radio, wipers, washer pumps, horn, and clock all work. The AC does not blow cold although everything is there, the rear wiper motor does not work, and I havent been able to test the rear defogger. With the exception of the drivers seat bottom and carpet the interior is in excellent shape including headliner and dash. The luggage rack is factory. The battery is brand new. The odometer reads just over 60,000 miles but I have no idea if this is correct. As far as I can tell the entire drive train is original. The spare tire and jack also look original and the spare looks unused.
My plan for the car was to make sure it was mechanically reliable and take it to shows leaving everything else original as is. If the goal were to restore the car some of the work necessary would be: new passenger headlight bezel (cracked), new wheel trim rings and correct chromne center caps, new driver side chrome rocker trim (dented), rust repair including a hole in the quarter panel behind the drivers rear wheel and a weak drivers front floorboard, rebuild shifter, recover drivers seat bottom, new carpet and pedal covers, repair the parking brake (inoperable), a new trunk lock and lift supports, and of course new paint and wood vinyl.
This car is sold As Is with no warranty. I have tried to completely disclose everything I know about this car. The title is clear in my name. There is an assortment of primarily suspension parts that is included. Overall this is a very solid car that may be one of only a few remaining if any. Thanks for looking!
