Description

1936 Plymouth Sedan Street Rod

I’ve owned this car since 1995. Drove it as an original for a few years, collected parts and then turned it into a street rod in 2004. It has been completely rebuilt from the frame up with high quality parts.

We have driven and enjoyed this car for many years but we simply have to many cars and can’t drive them all. I hate watching this car sit in the garage!

This car has won several awards including best of class in the 2004 Detroit Autorama, 4 reps picks at different NSRA events, Best Paint and Best Hot Rod at the CEMA show at the Chrysler Museum, and several local awards. It spent 2005 in the Chrysler Museum in a special Rods and Mods display (see picture).

Here are some of the particulars:

Body:

Started from a completely rust free body. Vehicle was originally a restored original. The body is all steel. Roof was filled with a metal roof from a 36 Chrysler, tail lights are shaved and moved down on the rear fenders, custom rear bumper that has been narrowed 14 inches and moved tight to the body, PT cruiser rear truck handle (custom emblem), custom front bumper from a 34 Plymouth moved tight to the body, tinted glass, one piece frameless windshield, smooth steel running boards, flush gas door. Original door handles and latches (re-plated), custom built grille that mimics the original.

Paint:

Paint is exceptional on this car. It is Chrysler deep amethyst (purple), with very tasteful color changing flames on front fenders only (color is Ocean). Several coats of clear, hand sanded and polished. Constant comments on how nice the paint is.

Interior:

The entire interior is done in 2 tone gray leather. Everything in the interior is genuine leather including the dash, and steering wheel. Original rear seat, Chrysler Sebring front buckets with integrated shoulder harnesses (power). Custom console with AC/heat controls, Kenwood head unit, Lokar shifter, and drink holder. Original dash layout with custom Dakota digital gauges in the original dash pod. Overhead console from a Dodge minivan with outside temp, compass, power window controls, and power vent window controls. All 4 windows are power utilizing the original rebuilt window regulators so the smokers window still operates. The rear vent windows are power utilizing the power vent windows from a minivan.

Suspension:

Still rides on a dropped front straight axle from Butch’s rod shop with Flaming River power rack and pinion. Very good ride and perfect stance. All 4 leaf springs were custom built from Eaton Detroit Spring. Rear Axle is a 9 ¾ from a Dodge Dart with 3:55 gear with limited slip. Disk brakes on all 4 corners with power booster still located on frame rail. Billet Specialties wheels (16 front, 18 rear) with BF Goodrich tires.

Drive line:

Original 340 block that was machined, balanced and assembled by Muscle Motors in Lansing, MI. Original 340 6 pack intake that has been polished with a set of new Holley 6 pack carbs. Car runs like it’s fuel injected. All fuel lines, linkages, and fasteners have been chrome plated. Sanderson block hugger coated headers with 3 ½ inch stainless exhaust with cross over, and flow master mufflers. Polished aluminum brackets and pulleys from Street and Performance. Polished AC compressor and power steering pump, chrome high output alternator from Powermaster. 904 torque flight trans completely rebuilt with truck clutch set, shift kit, and 2400 stall converter. Custom built polished aluminum radiator with fan shroud. Manual fan with auxiliary electric fan for AC. Car runs cool. Stainless fuel tank, fuel lines, and large Fram frame mounted fuel filter.

I’m sure I’m missing several other things. Car is built right and ready to go. Everything on the car works as it should with the exception that I have never charged the AC. Never needed to with the cowl vent.

I’m not in a hurry to sell and really hate to part with this vehicle. It has been very reliable and we have enjoyed it for several years. Just time to go to someone that will drive it more than we do.

Please email me with any other questions, and I’ll get back with you quickly.

Thanks for looking!
