1987 Plymouth Reliant K car wagon, Turbo 2 drivetrain, 4 wheel disc, sleeper
Description
This auction is for a very unique Reliant K car wagon. I started with a very low mile, survivor wagon. Original paint, original interior, no rust ever, no damage and a great color combo of light blue over blue. These are very rare these days as most have been destroyed, crashed or rusted. The K car wagon was good looking in a simple, uncluttered way. As these wagons are so light, they actually handle well. This one was taken to the next level with Spiva Poly Bushing large front and rear sway bars, performance shocks and a new steering rack.
That was just the beginning. To take care of the power issue, a trip to the Mopar, Shelby Dodge parts bin was in order. A complete, low mile drive train from an 88 LeBaron GTS was sourced and installed. This is the Turbo 2 unit with an intercooler, Garret turbo, forged pistons, rods and crank. The wiring harness and a Daytona computer were adapted to the wagon. The transmission is the HD unit from the GTS. With all this extra go, stopping power was not neglected. A complete GTS "big brake" package was installed-four wheel, drilled and ventilated disc brakes ensure that there is no lack of braking ability. Alloy wheels were fitted to clear the brakes. This sport wagon also has a new extra duty radiator, new belts, hoses and fluids. There is a high performance exhaust and a new hi flow cat.
This K wagon is simply an amazing sleeper as it's sedate appearance disguises the significant performance available to it's driver. With nearly double it's original power and great braking and handling, it shocks drivers of performance cars on a regular basis. And, best of all, it's practical as well. An efficient wagon design and a fuel injected four cylinder mean that not only can it carry more than many SUVs, but it will pull well over 20mpg on the highway as a bonus.
This Reliant is clean, everything works and people enjoy seeing it. As it has a forged internal power train, with the addition of more boost and other goodies, even more power is easily attained. Is it perfect? Not quite. While the AC set up is all there, it will need to be charged as it was not done after the engine swap. The speedo is also currently not working after the swap. The wagon only has about 60K original miles!. That's about it.
Don't miss this opportunity to own a truly enjoyable wagon. If you are a Shelby or Turbo Dodge enthusiast, this is your wagon. If you are in an area of the country where these rusted into nothing-here is your wagon!
Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
