1970 Plymouth Fury 383 V8 Gran Coupe Automatic Dual Quad 727 transmission
Description
Family Purchased in 1970 and family owned only. The Fury Grand Coupe had a unique paint from the factory. This model was listed and advertised as being only sold in dark Brown. As the photos show it is not. The car was repainted in 2005 THE ORIGINAL FACTORY COLOR. The only body modification is the louvered hood, which was done to reduce the temperature at the carburetors significantly in summer usage.
Engine: 383 V8 with dual AFB carbs on a 1960 cast iron factory intake manifold and a purple stripe camshaft kit. Exhaust manifolds were replaced with higher flowing versions and dual exhaust were added. An aluminum radiator with electric fans was also changed. The engine was rated at 290 HP and the changes noted were to duplicate or exceed the 1962 343HP 383 engines. As with the 343HP engine, better flowing cylinder heads were changes with 2.14 Intake valves, Porting, and increased compression. A new blueprinted oil pump has been added and the fuel pump is a high capacity factory version. The valve train has roller rocker arms and new factory replacement valve springs. Ignition replaced with a newer Mopar electronics system.
Transmission; Mopar 727 automatic with 2200 stall convertor
Rear Gear Ratio: 83/4 rear 3.50 with traction lock and less than 4000 miles of driving.
Brakes: Front Disc brakes and rear drum brakes all with less than 4000 miles of usage.
Michelin Tires on 15 inch factory wheels. Hubcaps restored like new.
New shocks on each corner, and new rear factory replacement springs less than 2000 miles ago
Interior: There are 2 cracks in the dash and one tear in the front seat. The rest of the interior is like new.
