The block has reinforced main bearing webs and 4-bolt mains. It used strong forged steel connecting rods that were held onto the heavy-duty nodular iron crank by 7/16-inch bolts. Pistons were TRW forged pieces, and the oiling system used a 80-lb. Spring in the high-volume pump, screw-in oil plugs in the block and had a provision for a dry-sump pump. The distributor’s oil pump drive gear was oversized as well. The cam was 301/313 duration with .406-inch lift when installed with the SD’s 1.50 ratio rockers. The heads were big round port jobs that used the familiar 2.11/1.77-inch tulipped and swirl-polished valves that resided in 111cc chambers, yielding 8.4:1 compression. The intake, specific to the engine was an iron unit with EGR provision, which mounted an 800-cfm Rochester Quadrajet carburetor. Stream-lined iron headers, 2.5 inch head pipes, dual resonators and 2.25 inch tails enhanced exhaust flow. Car and Driver got 13.8 ET’sout of an automatic-equipped Trans Am running a 3.42 gear back in 1973.Please Call For Details At 708-478-0500, Or View Our Entire Inventory @ www.swcorvettes.com
