Description

Up for sale is my 1966 Pontiac GTO Convertible, 3-owner, 389 cu. in. engine, 4-bbl, 4-speed transmission, 85,528 original miles, blue exterior with a white power operated convertible top and medium blue bucket seat interior. Options include (from window sticker pictured): 4-speed manual transmission, push button AM radio (not installed but included), rally gauge cluster and tachometer, console, power steering, power brakes, and soft-ray windshield glass. The car is beautiful. PHS researched and documented with paperwork. Originally a Florida car (see window sticker picture), ithas been garaged all its life and has not seen rain in my possession or in the last owner’s possession of 40 years. The car has never been restored but meticulously maintained and is in great condition. The car had been repainted professionally many, many years ago and the paint is majorly cracking, mostly on the top surfaces, but the car still looks great – crisp and clean and overall shines nice and compliments a clean body. The interior is original (except for the carpet which is new), and looks nice including the seat upholstery, dash and dash pad and door panels. The steering wheel and dash pad are crack free but the driver’s front seat has a couple of splits (see pictures) but overall looks great. The convertible roof operates up and down as it should, is new including the rear plastic window. The chrome and stainless shine beautifully and are in fantastic condition. As you can see from the pictures, under the hood looks nice and the trunk area is clean and in nice shape too. The engine starts up easily and is quiet - runs and drives nice and strong, steers and brakes nice. However, the throw-out bearing chatters from time to time and the clutch is original so the car would benefit from both being replaced. The motor is a date coded 1966 (YE) 389 with 325 hp (casting 9778789), with 1966 (093) Pontiac cylinder heads, factory cast exhaust manifolds (9779032 and 9779328), and an Edelbrock Pontiac Torker aluminum intake manifold with a single 4V Holley 600 cfm carb/manual choke (1850-9). The factory intake and carb are not available. The transmission is a 1966 Muncie (3885010) 4-speed. The underside of the car is clean with excellent floors and frame and original undercoating over most of it (see pictures) under a refreshed topcoat. The dual exhaust is in good condition and sounds great, door jambs look nice, the Pontiac Rally II wheels are in fantastic condition with like new tires. No disappointments!!IMPORTANT ...
