Description

I just found this 1989 Pontiac Firebird Trans AM.This is an unmolested numbers matching rust free T/A.This car has a 5.0 liter 305 cid/225hp, tune port fuel injected V8 engine. The transmission is a TH200-4R. This car has the performance suspension. The car only has 128546 miles. The previous owner replaced the gas tank, starter, distributor, coil, cap and rotor. It will need a battery. Before I purchase the car, it was not starting. I did get it started. The previous owner also removed catalytic converter and the exhaust going back.He stated he was preparing to install dual exhaust. The exhaust coming off the manifolds with the 02 sensor is still intact. Now after moving the car it will not go back in park.I'm not sure what caused that but I'll be looking into it this week. Please ask all questions before bidding on this car. This car is being sold as a restoration project AS IS.I reserve the right to remove this ad at any time.

Thanks for looking!

3/23 Update- I was able to shift the car back into park today. The problem is the shift knob press buttonwill not press down the park safety rod enough to go into park. I removed the center console coverand manually push the rod down moving itinto park. Also I started the car today. I had to spray starter fluid into the tune port to keep it running. There is a fuel supply problem. Thanks

3/25 Update- I believe the problem with the car not starting is the ignition switch. When the switch is in the on position it doesn't activate the fuel pump prime/volt gauge. I used ajumper wire on the fuse box from the ignition to the to 12 volts and thefuel pump primed and the volt gauge read13 volts.Due to the battery being bad I was unable to start it with myHarbor Freight jump box. If I had a good battery I believe it would haveran withknow problem.

After researching the issue with the car. I have concluded that the problem is the Vehicle Anti-Theft System (VATS) this is apart of the ignition switch. That explain way the injectors are not firing.
