1952 Pontiac Chieftain
I will be listing a few cars here in the next week or two for my family. We are reducing are number of cars, so please see my other listings as well. I am not a dealer.
This is a very niceoriginal car that has been well cared for by the previous owners. This car was owned by the original owner's family for the first 50+ years of its life. Only 45,180 miles showing and everything seems to show that is accurate. We had plans to drive and show this car on a regular basis, but sometimes life has other plans, and we have decided to sell it to someone who we hope will give it a good home.
"Dollar for dollar, you can't beat a Pontiac! Built to last 100,000 miles!"
Details/Features:
The engine idles well and starts easy every time. This 268 engine also has the high compression head which came standard with the Hyrda-Matic Transmission. This was the first year for the great "Dual Range Hydra-Matic" which has two drive ranges for the driver to use, as shown by an arrow on either side of the 'Dr' marking on the shift indicator. The left arrow is the conventional drive range and operated in the same manner as the previous Hydra-Matic, starting off in first gear and shifting through second, third, and into fourth automatically. The right arrow selected the new drive range that started off in first and shifted through second and into third gear only. This particular transmission shifts well through all gears and the car drives excellent overall. It has a fresh tune up/check up and new brakes. You really feel like you're driving a piece of history!
Everything appears to match in terms of the numbers. It is paint code 00 on the trim tag (which is solid black). The serial number (P8WH83437) P = Pontiac, 8 = number of cylinders (8 cylinder car), WH = car was built in Wilmington in 1952 and had a Hydra-Matic Transmission, 83437 = 83,437th car built.
This car is just a beautiful survivor. Doors open and shut very well and the glass is good. The factory original upholstery is in good condition for its age. Also very nice chrome for a 1952 model! An especially nice grille and bumpers. Please keep in mind, however, that this is anunrestoredcar. I'm not sure how much of the paint is original (if any), but my family planned on repainting the car at some point in the future. The next owner may want to do that or just leave it like it is and enjoy it! The engine bay was freshened up a little to look more presentable. Also, new carpet was added. If you want a good original Pontiac that you can drive and enjoy, definitely give this car some consideration.
Please see the photos and ask what questions you have.
I reserve the right to end the listing early at any time for the right offer. The car could be for sale locally as well.
