Description

Rare Pontiac Grand Am, one of 4021 coupes built in 1979. It has some unusual options (see attached copy of the build sheet). This is my personal car and has been my daily driver since I purchased it in Sept. 2014.It spent most of it's life in the Minneapolis, MN area, it was ordered new from Hansord Pontiac in Minneapolis with some rare options:Power Glass Sunroof, Rare real wire wheels (only available on 79-80 Grand Am & Grand Prix), Automatic Temperature Control A/C, Saf-T-Trac (posi), PW, PDL, TW, Pwr. Antenna, Deluxe Velour bucket seats,301 4bbl, see build sheet for more info. Claret Red over Gold with a Red Velour interior.
The car is solid but does have some rust. The rear frame rails are rusted (bumper is still attached), lower rear quarters have some rust, a small spot on the driver's side floor pan, and some in the bottoms of the doors. The rest of the floors and the trunk floor are in great condition.
The TH200 transmission started having issues, so I replaced it with a completely rebuilt TH350 with a mild shift kit, I had the carb rebuilt in Oct 2014, as well as a complete tune-up. The windshield was replaced and the rear window reset with new adhesive, the sunroof glass cracked about a week after I got the car and doesn't leak BUT the sliding mechanism has gotten out of alignment so the glass panel doesn't seat properly and will leak if not covered. I was planning to get a usable glass, new seal, and take it apart, and replace the glass and seal. The Automatic Temperature Control will blow air out of the selected vents but it won't moderate the air temperature. I installed a push-pull cable attached to do it manually. The A/C compressor locked up last year, so it will need replacing as well. Interior is still decent, NO cracks in the dash, seats aren't all torn up, carpet is faded, headliner is shot. The Silver paint on the dash face plate was showing it's age, so I covered it with engine-turned material like a 70s Trans Am and added a full gauge cluster, including tach. It has aPioneer AM/FM CD & speakers. Still has the Space-Saver inflatable spare tire and inflation can.Newer fuel pump, master cylinder, and radiator. Receipts for everything, and the PHS documentation come with the car.
I have a bunch of additional parts I collected for the car that can be purchased, at additional cost.1. Used, but excellent condition interior plastic panels to replace the crumbling ones seen in the interior photos.2. Southside Machine boxed lower and adjustable upper rear control arm kit with bushings and grade 8 hardware.3. AC Delco reman. WS6 steering gear.4. AC Delco idler arm5.AC Delco shock absorbers, 2 front, 2 rear.6. Miscellaneous exterior emblems including an NOS nose arrowhead.7. Gold powder-coated 15x8 T/A snowflakes with new center caps, lug nuts and locks on new P235/60x15 RWL tires.Remember, these parts ARE NOT included and will only be offered to a potential buyer at exyra cost.
