Description

1965 Pontiac GTO Convertible. This is a PHS documented real GTO convertible, Tri-power, 4 speed car. Just under 94,000 documented miles. Original Burgundy (on primer now), with black top and interior. I purchased this car 6 years ago from a long term owner from 1985. Car was built in Baltimore Maryland and to the best of my knowledge has never been titled outside of this state. In 1986 the motor currently in the car was rebuilt and never run. The car was stored in a number of dry locations over the next 25 years. Correct WS block, heads, exhaust manifolds, and intake, which the owner at the time had it outfitted for Nitrous. I removed the injectors from the intake and adapted bolts to fill in the 8 holes. I, along with my mechanic, got the car running a few years ago. Does not leak a drop of anything... no smoke either. It has a rebuilt 4-speed transmission that is correct for a 1965 GTO. Correct and rebuilt HURST shifter as well. The rear in the GTO is a Chevy 12 Bolt POSI with 373 gears (car came with a 355 Posi, long gone). Although not correct for the car, it is a desirable rear. From what I can tell, all body panels are original to the car. It has minimal rust (see pics), but numerous dings and dents. The sheet metal is rough. Trunk floor has a few rust holes but is easily repairable, will not need replacing. Floors in the car are original and solid. Frame is solid. I have 2 extra doors that go with the car. They are in good shape and could be used if necessary. No rust in the doors on the car, but driver’s door has dents/damage. Interior is original and in very good shape considering the age. One 1” tear on bottom left of passenger seat. Power Convertible top is old but in good condition, mechanism works and top can be raised and lowered. I have spent thousands of dollars on this car since I bought it 6 years ago. I have receipts for everything. I also have receipts from the previous owner documenting the rebuild. New Gardner Exhaust, new front and rear bumpers, new gas tank, new 4 core radiator, new under hood electrical harness, new master cylinder, complete new drum brakes. New steering coupler, new alternator, all new hoses and belt, new emergency brake hardware. New clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing. And much, much more. Car runs and drives decently. Currently running on center carb only. I am reluctantly putting it up for sale as it needs to get taken to the next level (body and paint) which I am not capable of doing myself.

Engine block number: 9778789, Engine Code: WS, Distributor # 1111054 5 A 18. Tags are off of carburetors. Car is missing the rocker panel molding trim. All other trim not on the car is in the trunk, along with numerous other new and used parts. These include new front springs, new headlight bezels, new GTO emblems for the entire exterior (a few are on the car now), new distributor, used grills, useds carbs, much more.

I posted a brief video of the GTO running on You tube. E-bay doesn't allow me to post the link, but if you look up 65 Gto 4 speed (sort by newest), you should be able to find it.
