1981 Trans-am Turbo Daytona 500 Pace Car
Description
1 of 2000 Daytona 500 Pace car.
46,000kms (28,500 miles), 4 owner, documented, clean original Canada Alberta car.Older repaint by 3rd owner.
Car is currently licensed/inspected in British Columbia Canada and everything works as it should. It has new tires and is ready to drive anywhere! I would drive this car across country.
As per Pontiac Historical Services documentation, this car came heavily optioned apart from the Y85 Turbo Special edition package.Canadian cars were factory optioned with '749' speedo in KMs, 'C49' rear window defrost, 'K05' engine block heater and most specially was the 'NM4' Emissions delete which gave it more power! This car has factory A/C and a whole bunch of other options listed on documentation that were ordered by the original owner in 1981.
Being a low mile car, it shows it's originalty as not being restored other then paint. The paint shows well for its age and is clean. Not a 100% "concours" restored show car but is in excellent driver quality condition.
As an Alberta car, it is a solid car. Under the doors have typical wear but appear soild as well as underside of car. Most of the suspension is original to the car and appears never replaced which is not uncommon in low mileage original cars. The interior is original and also shows really well. It does not smell like an old car which is a bonus. The carpet, seats, dash and door panels all are in really nice condition as per the photos.(As a Y85 car, it has the factory Recaro seats which look and feel great!)
The T-tops and weather stripping rubbers all look good and include T-top bags. Also includes factory spare tire and jack.Car comes with two sets of original keys/fobs, PHS documentation and original books.
The car has a MSD ignition and aftermarket radio with speakers on rear parcel shelf.Original radio is included with the car.
The Turbo 4.9L 301 V8 engine option was the most powerful engine option available in a Trans-am for 1981.It was also the last year a Pontiac engine was ever used in a Firebird before they switched to GM engines in 1982.
The condition is very nice overall and it is a great example that you can drive and enjoy.Being a special editon car with low mileage makes this car a good investment classic.
I have set the reserve price to be very fair compared to the current market listings on Daytona Pace cars.Because it is a classic car, I am selling it "As-is" with no written warranty implied.I am not a professional appraiser and pre-purchase inspections at the cost of the buyer are welcome.
If you have been pondering a "Screaming Eagle" car, this one is rare and ready for you to enter it in the registry!81ta-se.com
