Description

1971 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400 purchased new, and still owned by my friend Sal in Connecticut. Original paint Low original documented 7625 miles. We have elected to put the car out there as the garage find . The car has been run in the recent time frame, but it currently has a dead battery. The future owner may want to do their own recommissioning. When it ran last the motor sounded excellent, and all the cars options functioned correctly. I will go through the general condition of the car below.
Body: Original Castilian Bronze with the exception of the trunk which was painted pre-delivery to Sal. The paint is showing typical laquar checking in a few places. There is some paint fade on the rubber nose as well as the plastic fillers by the rear bumper. The chrome is showing pitting.
Interior: Original Sandalwood seats, and door panels are in excellent shape as is the carpets, and headliner. Dash is free of cracks, gauges are clear. I would call this interior Showroom fresh, and I don't use those words lightly. It even smells new. Never smoked in.
Engine Compartment: Completely original with the exception of the alternator (replaced in the 80's) plugs and wires (originals come with the car). Factory AC which is still charged with R12. All original hose clamps. After a cleaning this car was to be judged as a amazing survivor.
Chassis: The bottom of the car has small layer of rust scale on the bare metalsurfaces such as he lief springs, and coils. A good scrubbing would remove it. The belly pan is absolutely clean. There is a thin layer of undercoating in the wheel wells that appears factory or dealer installed. Cobwebs, aside the bottom of the car is very nice. Like you would expect a 7600 mile 1971 car to look. The factory original transverse muffler looks new still. Sal added tips on the exahst the first week he had the car. They are still present. The tires are original style, but are not original to the car. Sal sought them out years ago. They are old, but hold air and do not appear dry rotted.
Mechanical: The Firebird was started thought out the last years, but has not been driven in two years. Again, I have presented this as a garage find that will start and run with a new battery, but should be sympathetically recommissioned. I have decided to offer it before we do the recommissioning to see if anyone wants to do the rewarding work such as removing it from the garage, wiping the dust and cobwebs, and taking pics of it in its entombment location.
Please call me with any questions or discuss offers, and reserve. Please don't bid on it just to see the reserve. I am happy tell you.

Hello, We had a perfect sunny day today. The first in weeks. We decided to start the car and give it a drive and take some new pictures. Soon I will have links to the car starting up and driving. I will also be creating a link to all of the new additional pictures as well as the original documentation showing single ownership from new.
I have many new pictures showing how absolutely beautiful this car shined up. We did not detail. We only wiped it off. I am happy to text the various videos showing it running, driving, and of course the insisal startup. Text me a request at 602-908-9267 and I will shoot you some videos. I have sent some of you them already. Thank you for your responses. Yes it is in amazing shape.
We also now found the original paperwork. All of it is in excellent condition. Not yellowed or old. Perfectly clean and legible documentation single ownership from new. Below is some, but not all that we have.
We the have the original window sticker.A Letter from Pontiac to Sal that came with the also included protecto plate.Original sales contract.Manual and data sheetWarranty BookInsurance and registrations back to new
The paint looks absolutely fantastic. We pumped it twice and turned the key. Started right up. Perfect oil pressure. The temp gauge stayed at 195. Voltage between 12 and 13.
I now have ridden in the car. Everything works great. The A/C does in fact blow cool. The lights work perfect. The engine pulls hard. The transmission shift perfectly. This includes the factory manual valve body shifter. The car stops and goes perfectly. It is an amazing survivor. Maybe the lowest mileage best looking and driving of its type not owned by a museum. The battery is from 2012 and needs to be replaced. The tires had flat spots but they smoothed out after 3 or 4 miles. It might be best to replace them due to age, but other then the battery and tires is fantastic.
Please call me with any questions or if you want me to text the videos and additional pictures. Please check in for updates to the add.

I have been informed that option that option 492 (thank you smitric_1skyheoo ) was door edge guards. Originally equipped, and still wears them.
I have been asked by many people via text and message for the additional pictures and videos. Both links are in the add, but they do seem to get lost in all of my word.
Please go here for the pictures from Sunday where we brought the Firebird out of the garage and into the light:
