This Pontiac is a result of a two and a half year project. I purchased the car in complete and original condition. The car was disassembled to begin the street rodding process. The body mounts are solid and in good condition, so the decision was made to keep it on the frame. The body, as well as all the panels were sandblasted and sprayed with epoxy primer. The only body panels replaced were the lower rear quarters, where the gravels shields are located. This is where the drain tube from the rear windows exits. These often clogging and cause rust. Otherwise the car was very solid. All floors are original to the car. Any other rust issues were much smaller and were fixed. The underside of the body and frame were hand stripped and painted in Eastwood chassis black.
There have been slight custom changes made to the body. All the side trim was removed. Seams in the front and rear were filled. The original grille was replaced with a 1954 Chevrolet grille. The headlights were frenched, and a one piece Oldsmobile windshield was used in place of the original two piece. Besides these changes the basic body is stock 1952 Pontiac.
The general theme of the car was using retro pieces from 1950’s GM. For example, Cadillac Batwing air cleaner, ‘54 Chevy Hardtop dash mirror, Oldsmobile one piece windshield, ‘50 Pontiac tail lights, ‘54 Chevy grille, GM rally style wheels, and Oldsmobile green engine color (the original Pontiac straight 8 was more a green color, not the later Pontiac light blue). This could be taken even further with the retro Oldsmobile valve covers for small block chevy engines, or a 1955 chevy style steering wheel.
As you can see from the pictures, the car is unfinished. I’ve driven it a little over 1,000 miles. I will continue to drive it and complete different projects on that car. I am very happy with the car but i’m also always on the lookout for the next project. In its current state, a person could buy it, choose an interior of their liking, and finish paint the exterior and have far less invested in the car than having a shop build it.
I can send further images of any section or part of the car as needed.
