Description

Special Edition Y82 Trans Am that will require a restoration. Car is not in running condition. I bought it to restore and won't be able to now. I have the PHS documents that show it is a real Y82 Special Edition. Hurst T-Tops, power locks, power windows, tilt wheel, power truck release in glovebox, rear defroster, non-a/c, Lombardy velour interior.
Here is what I have found out about the car:
Drivetrain: Motor is not original and numbers show it to be a 1976 Pontiac 400. Motor is not completely installed or mounted properly and may have the wrong mounts so hood scoop cannot be installed. I do not know the condition of this motor (it may or may not run if install is completed). Transmission condiiton is unknown. Exhaust looks new but is not hooked up to motor.
Interior: Shifter is not original and the center console is damaged. Dash has a couple of cracks. Windshield is cracked. Driver side door panel came off but will be included. Both armrest/door handles are good. Back seats are good, front driver seat not that great, passenger seat ok. Headliner needs to be replaced.
Metal: Body sheet metal appears sound however there is hail damage on hood, trunk pan, and roof. I'd swap out the trunk lid and hood and repair the roof dents (about 10 pea sized). Rear passenger side frame rail will need to be replaced or a new piece sectioned in (see picture). Driver side may have a small section of rear frame rail to repair. Front frame rails are solid. Driver floor pan needs work or changed, couldn't tell on the others. Inner rear fenders have corrosion. I have no trunk key so unable to check that out at this time. Rear window molding/trim has hail damage.
Tires: They were clearly never ran but I have no idea how long they sat. I imagine a tire shop could assess whether they are safe. Goodyear Wingfoot HP, size is P245/60R15 for all 4.
Hood hinges, radiator, fan shroud and hood scoop (cracked) will be included.
All in all this is a very restorable Y82 Trans Am. I have posted all of the issues I found on the car but I'm sure there are others. I am not a mechanic and recommend that you see the car in person or have someone inspect it. Otherwise, plan on the worst and be happy with what is good! Car does not run and I have no way of knowing what works, there is no warranty and sale is final with no returns. This is a project car that needs a lot of work but will be worth the investment. One thing to note is that I was able to push it around in the pole building it was sitting without much trouble.
Please let me know if you have any questions or want other pictures. I am limited on what I can access underneath and have no way to lift the vehicle but ask and I will do my best. Thanks for looking!
