2-door sedan project car - lots of work done, loads of new parts!
Description
For Sale:
1966 Pontiac LeMans 2-door sedan. Lots of work done, not much more needed to make a running, driving car.
Originally a 326ci V8 with a 2-speed automatic transmission, now fitted with a Pontiac 350ci V8 (removed from my friend's running Firebird 7 weeks ago) and a Turbo 350 3-speed automatic transmission.
The engine was rebuilt and has less than 3000 miles since. When I changed the oil pan gasket before fitting it to my car, the fresh honing marks in the cylinders were clearly visible. It has an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, a 600CFM Edelbrock carburetor and a nice set of ceramic-coated Doug's brand headers.
The transmission has been cleaned and all gaskets, seals and o-rings replaced. All it needs is fresh transmission fluid as it is currently empty.
The rear axle is from a '66 Chevelle and was fitted to the car when I got it. It has a 3.08:1 gear ratio and fresh oil.
The brakes have been completely rebuilt and upgraded from single circuit to dual circuit with a brake booster added. All lines and hoses are new. New master cylinder, brake booster, brake shoes, wheel cylinders and drums on all four corners. The system is currently empty, but only needs filling and bleeding.
The suspension bushes are in good condition and I have receipts for their replacement just a couple of thousand miles before the car was last driven in 2004. I have fitted new rear springs and a full set of shock absorbers.
The steering system has also been rebuilt with a new power steering box, idler arm, track rod assemblies and sway bar bushes. All the steering parts were also painted before reassembly.
Also new are the alternator, starter motor and power steering pump and hoses.
The body of the car is in overall good condition and could certainly be driven as it is. The trunk floor is the worst part (a typical A-body rot spot), but otherwise there are only a couple of small rust holes in the rear wheel well lips and driver's side floor. It has some rather odd-looking rubber rubbing strips down the sides, but these have kept the parking damage away.
The interior is currently dismantled and in need of at least some cleaning. The front seats are the correct parchment color, but come from a '69 GTO. The rear seat and door cards are present and usable, but not in the best condition.
To get the car back into a running, driving condition, you will need: Radiator with hoses, an exhaust system and a new wiring harness. The old electrics are not in good condition and I wouldn't trust them!
Up to how you want to finish it. Do a budget-build LeMans by finishing what I've started, convert it to a GTO replica or strip it down, do the bodywork and make a real nice car!
Clean title in my name. Car is located in Lynnwood, just off Highway 99 and can be viewed by appointment.
Asking $6500 or near offer. I have at least this invested already!
