1987 Pontiac Firebird Formula 350This is one of 1500 built in 1987, it was the return of the formula that had been gone from the firebird lineup since 1982. This was the fastest firebird you could get and was built to go after the corvette and grand national. It carried the GTA/Corvette 5.7 tuned port V8, heavy duty 4 speed auto with overdrive, posi rear, 4 wheel disk brakes, 16x8 wheels, WS6 suspension and special graphics. These cars were mostly ordered with no t-tops to conserve weight and no power options like windows, locks mirrors or seats they also didn't have the ground effects or fog lights all in an effort to make the car as light as possible.
This particular car is a 2 owner car that has been stored since 1993 till 2016, and only had 3,065 miles put on it since May 23rd 1991. It has never been in bad weather and babied from new always inside. The car runs, drives, brakes, starts, and handles like new. Suspension and steering very tight.
The exterior of the car is free of any rust and in outstanding condition as you would expect given the history of the car. Paint is beautiful just recently clay bard polished and waxed. It had some paint work prior to 1991 done at the dealer through warranty work I was told, I'm assuming clear coat issue under warranty. Paint is super condition still.
Interior of the car is absolutely mint ... no wear no sun fade no brittle plastic, again indicative of the history of this firebird. All the weather strip is also supple soft and in fantastic new condition all great around the door glass too and seals nice. Doors shut as new. Car smells new inside! Really a well preserved time capsule. Only thing changed inside was the radio 25 years ago but the original radio is mint and included with the sale of the car if you would like to change it back.
The AC although is working and has a new belt .. blows cool at best and need a recharge which will require a conversion kit from R12 to the new 134. I checked and the kit is 269 dollars.To get the AC ice cold again.
Also the headlights although will ligh, won't raise. Both motors are running when turned on but the common plastic gears are striped from not being used. The new brass gears are an easy and popular fix and are just a few dollars to install and get the lights up again. Those are the only 2 issues on the whole car period. I just didn't get to addressing those last two things yet. Everything else works and performs just as it did when new.
All in all, a truly beautiful, meticulously maintained firebir, it's just like buying a 3/4 year old car. Comes with 3 sets of keys, protect o plate original warranty book, and original delivery sheet. Also has the original selling dealer license plate frame on the car still.Collector quality, but something you still can put a few miles on and enjoy.Please email for questions or more pics I have a bunc, but serious only please!
