1970 Pontiac GTO –JUDGE “Best of” Tribute
Restoration Began April 2016 - Completed April 2017
This is a Real Deal GTO - as you can see by the first 3 characters of the VIN being 242! Because the car had none of the original drivetrain, I decided to have it finished in Atoll Blue (to be a cousin to my Fathom Blue 1970 Chevelle SS) and added the Judge appearance items. Car was built to spec by a local builder that buys, builds and flips muscle cars as a hobby - his specialty is the GTO. This car has an all NON-Numbers Matching, completely rebuiltdrivetrain. The 455 Engine, Muncie M-21 Transmission and 10 Bolt Rear end were all rebuilt and only have the miles I have put on since restoration. The AM Radio is the only thing that doesn't work - and I knew it but never cared since I prefer to listen to the exhaust.
The One Year Frame-Off Restoration began in April 2016 – Started with a rust-free chassis, original rear quarter panels, floors and trunk.Body was chemically stripped of all paint, removed from the Original Frame and sent to the Body Shop in April 2016 with spare frame under it.Restoration was done using rebuilt original parts when ever possible and was completed April 2017. Unlike buying a car freshly restored, the GTO has been driven enough miles to confirm all is well. It truly drives like a new car and goes over the road beautifully, exactly like you would expect a car with only 2,000 miles on it. Car was recently professionally buffed and the paint came out amazing.
