1965 Pontiac GTO for Sale
1965 Pontiac GTO Hardtop 389/4-Speed, Tri-Carb PHS, Frame-Off Restored California Car ......please be patient while the many photos load.....

Stunning 1965 Pontiac GTO Hardtop Coupe for sale in Sonoma California. This California PHS verified car was treated to a full, frame-off restoration shortly before I first met the car in 2007. We sold this special GTO to collector/enthusiast in the Sacramento area who has logged just under 3,000 miles since.

This GTO was originally delivered brand new with the 4 BBL 389 CI HC V8 Engine & Dual Exhausts, optional 4-Speed Synchromesh Transmission, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Rally Gauge Cluster & Tachometer. Additional options included Push-button Radio & Manual Antenna, Windshield Washer & Dual Speed Wipers, Visor Vanity Mirror, Outside Remote Mirror, Custom Wheel Discs, Custom Sports Steering Wheel, Console (with Bucket Seats), Front Seat Belts w/Outboard Retractor. The correct Tri-Carb configuration is installed and working beautifully. Original AFB 4 bbl is included with original intake manifold, associated brackets and water neck. The engine is original and number's matching.

The high quality repaint of the original Montero Red is smooth and shiny and still looks recent. The chrome, glass and trim are all in beautiful shape as well. The car just looks amazing, especially in this rarely seen red over red combination. The interior was replaced at the time and still looks mint. All options, gauges and accessories are in working order.

The numbers matching 389 CI High Compression (10:75.1) V8 was rebuilt with new pistons, rings, bearings, camshaft and bored .30 over. The transmission is the stock Muncie M20 wide ratio 4-speed with the original shifter and moves up and down through all of the gears with ease. The rear-end is a 3:23 ratio. It has Hedman "Shorty" headers. Original cast iron exhaust manifolds are included.

This outstanding, investment grade PHS documented GTO is looking for it's next master.

But please consider that these old cars, even when in great operational order are nothing like your modern car! Please do not expect even a restored several decades old car to perform with the same preciseness or reliability as a late model car. If you're new to the hobby please feel free to contact me. I have driven classic cars continuously for over 30 years and am happy to share the joys as well as the realities involved in owning these special old cars.
