1968 PONTIAC FIREBIRD 400....TRIPLE BLACK......NICE CAR

IS THIS A REAL PONTIAC 400? It has the Pontiac Historical Society papers and it says it is. I think it is, but will not guarantee you a thing, I am putting pictures of the documents on the listing. HOW IS THE BLACK PAINT? I consider it good paint, I see no dents or dings and see no rust bubbles. The body looks very straight to me when I look down the sides. I consider the gaps about like factory. The shine is good and the paint slick. You will have to look for a defect or spec with a critical eye. The color is now black, but according to the PHS papers it was born dark green. All door jambs and under sides are painted slick and it looks like it was born black HOW IS THE VINYL TOP? Very good, it looks new. I do see some glue streaks, it need to set in the hot sun. I see no rust bubbles under the top. HOW IS THE INTERIOR? Nice interior with no wear to my old eyes. The seat covers are nice, carpet good, door panels good, dash pad does have a fine crack on the right side, the headliner looks new, (it does need steamed and pulled a little tighter). HEAD LIGHTS WORK! TAIL LIGHTS WORK! TURN SIGNALS WORK! BRAKE LIGHTS WORK! WIPERS WORK! HORN NOT WORKING! HEATER BLOWER WORKS ON HIGH ONLY! GAS GAUGE WORKS! SPEEDOMETER WORKS! OIL, TEMP AND VOLTS WORK IN A UNDER DASH POD! HOW IS THE ENGINE? Sound good to me, I hear no knocks or rattles and see no blue smoke. It supposedly is rebuilt, but I have no receipts. It has a big Holley dual line carburetor with a manual choke. You do have to let it warm up. HOW IS THE TRANSMISSION? A good shifting Turbo 400 Hydromatic, it does have a after market B&M shiftier in the console, the boot is bad and needs replaced. I have a dust cover ordered, the picture does not show one. HOW IS THE EXHAUST SYSTEM? New dual exhaust with the loud and deep Muscle Car sound. Flow Master mufflers and aluminized pipes. HOW ARE THE BRAKES? Drums on all 4, they stop good for what they are, not power. HOW DOES THE CAR DRIVE? To me it drives good, it is not power steering, so on parking you have to put some effort into it.

The car has a couple of good up-grades. 1. Sub-frame connectors, this connects the back sub-frame to the front and is a very good thing. 2. Drive shaft guard, this keeps the drive shaft from flopping around if you bust a U joint. NEW GAS TANK! HOW ARE THE TIRES AND WHEELS? New wheels and new tires. 18 INCH ON THE REAR AND 17 INCH ON THE FRONT.
