WS6 PONTIAC FIREBIRD TURBO Z06 LS6 TRANS AM SMOKEY BANDIT T/A RESTO-MOD PRO-TOUR
Description
Hi Guys, For sale my 81 WS6 Turbo T/A. It has taken me many sleepless nights and countless internal arguments to come to the decision to put this car up for sale. 11 years ago I had a itch to build a Pro-Touring type car with LS powertrain. I set on a search and found this car completely original rust free southwest TransAm. This is the original color Mayan Red. The car originally had a red bird and red interior. Immediately I had the car stripped and put on a rotisserie. When I say this car was rust free I mean its was spotless.
PAINT Zero Rust period. Zero metal work went into this car that's one of the main reasons I held out to find one like this but like all pretty things, it didn't come cheap. Paint work is one of the nicest you'll find. A trained eye can see the differences in one paint job to the next and pick out the flaws. This paint is some of the finest applied paint. I'm a stickler for paint work that's not too thick. Good paint work will have flat panels without heavy build-up of primers, this paint has that perfect applied topcoat.
Interior The original interior was toast from the southwest heat. I love the factory dash in these cars and I wanted only the best so I had very high end shop (which will remain nameless because they were sued for the exorbitant final invoice) restore the dash with a NOS pad and restored mid year cluster. The shop also made the complete dash harness for the LS6 with OEM computer and factory gauges. Even though the dash looks 100% OEM over 10K has been spent in the dash alone (technically 7K after the judges ruling). Seats are new by ProCar and the remaining of the interior was bought through Year One. The interior is nearly 99% new or NOS. Restored factory tilt column with the sexy steering wheel (also new). 3 sets of T-tops, mirrored, smoked and smoked chrome. Factory silk screened decals.
Powertrain LS6 from Z06 Corvette. Engine was a Ebay purchase which I sent to builder to go through. Factory Aluminum block with standard bore, new rings, bearings, ported OEM heads, custom Bullet ground Camshaft. Estimated 450HPTurbo 200 Transmission. Bought direct from one of the big online performance transmission shops. Chosen due to the toughness and gear ratio, also allowed me to use OEM speedometer. All new Fuel system from one of the companies that converts your OEM tank for a drop-in type OEM pump. Stainless / AN fuel lines throughout. Car has aftermarket A/C pulley system that connected to OEM AC system in the car.
Drivetrain Original WS6 disc brake 10 Bolt with all new posi and gears, 3:73, New rear springs, HP shocks all around. Global west Frame connectors and the adjustable control arms (nice ones with NASCAR like anodized blue bushings). Car handles like a open wheel circuit car.
The bad, I will tell you I didnt drive the car enough. I should of drove it everyday but I didn't. When the car was done I shifted my attention to something else in my life. I probably put 300 miles on it a year. The last two years I put maybe 40 miles on it. The last time I moved it the front wheel was sticking from sitting. The engine now doesn't want to run. It sounds like it dropped half the cylinders. Fuel Maybe? I think but could be internal too, I don't know. the cars hasn't moved in two years mostly because I'm a bit demoralized about it. I figured I'd let her age gracefully for a decade or so then revisit her and upgrade it with whatever the hottest swap of 2030 would be. It still brings me joy to see it sitting pretty on one of the lifts.
This is car I never planned on selling but this car and few others I feel I need to sell to chase another dream of mine. A waterfront home I've driven past for twenty years has came up for sale, I've always dreamed of owning it and I have a opportunity to make it happen. I'm not interested in trades due to the need to raise capital, I would consider something if it were to be in my favor and include 20k in principle. My asking price I feel is very very conservative given prices others ask for these cars and the tens of thousands I've invested. I'm currently out of town. I'll be more then happy to answer any questions for you guys when I get back Wednesday so just reach out.
