1976 Pontiac Le Mans Sport Coupe - 2 Door - One Owner
Description
1976 Pontiac Le Mans Sport Coupe2 - Door350 engine with 4 bbl carb116,000 miles
I am the original owner of this car, I got it in 1976 when I graduated from college. The car has been well maintained and taken care of. It was my only means of transportation until the early to mid 80's, when I purchased my first PU truck, then the car became a back up.
In the mid 80's I was in a fender bender, where someone lost control on some ice and hit the front driver's side and then spun and clipped the rear driver's side of the car. At that time, when I had it repaired, I had the whole car repainted, matching the original silver color. I had the vinyl top also replaced at that time. The vinyl top is still in good condition, there is a small cut down at the bottom on the driver's side, I included a photo of that. There were some tears in the seam of the front driver side seat, so at that time I had custom seat covers put on both the front and back seats. If you were to remove the seat covers, the original seats are under there, all is good, except for the drivers side. Since this time, the car has always been garaged. The seat covers are in excellent condition.
The interior is in very good condition, smoke free. There are no rips, tears or cracks in the interior, except for that little plastic sleeve that the drivers side seat belt rolls into, and a small crack in the dash trim right below the station selector knob of the radio (you can see this in the photo showing the driver side dash, lower right corner). The headliner, sun visors, arm rests, etc. are in good shape with no damage. It is the original carpet, it is in good shape, but it is sun faded where it has been exposed to the sun over time. The vinyl on the inside there, at the top of the door, where the windows roll down into is also faded, you can see the pictures. No damage, just color faded. The weather stripping around the windows, where the doors close to, and the trunk are worn and cracked and need replaced. Trunk light, dome light and glove box light work, original jack is with the car.
4 new P205-75-16 tires were put on the car in 2010. The car had 112,000 miles on it at that time. The tires only have 4,000 miles on them, but they are 6 years old. Car has always been garaged during this time. The spare tire has a tube in it. It would just go flat over time, never used, and I could not keep it from leaking out, so I just put a tube in it. Muffler was replaced in 1999. The car had 105,000 miles at that time.
The engine is the original 350 cu inch, with a 4 barrel carburetor. It has been maintained, but never modified. The car runs great and uses no oil. If I start it every few days (which I do not regularly do) it starts very easily. If it sits for a few days the gas all seems to drain back to the tank. You have to pump the heck out of the gas pedal to get gas back up to the carburetor, then it starts and runs fine. Just saying, you do really need to pump it 50 times or so! But runs great.
Back in the late 90's or early 2000, this car would sit for months at a time. I might start and charge the battery, but never drove it. I had trouble with the transmission leaking fluid and slipping. I took it in and they said the transmission was fine, the seals were just drying out from not driving it. Now I take it out every few weeks and drive it around the neighborhood. I warm it up before driving it and the transmission does not slip. Also, by driving it a little, I no longer have the transmission leaking. There are minor drips, yes, but no major leaking. It has air conditioning and cruise control on it, but they do not work. Clock does not work either. The original radio with 8 track was removed at some time and replaced with an AM ford radio - that came out of a PU I had. Not sure why, but the original radio is not in it. All speakers work. Tilt wheel, PS, PB.
The body is in decent shape, please see the pictures. There is rusting and paint chipping behind the the wheel wells. I took close up pictures (all 4 fenders) for you to see. The worst spot is on the rear drivers side, where you can see a small hole. This is the side that was once repaired from the fender bender. Surface rust around all 4, but does not look to be rusted through on the other 3. There are also small chips of paint missing in other spots (the driver side door has the most, see the picture). This car was a driver, and has 116,000+ miles, so there are chips in the paint.
Manuals are with the car.
Again, this car was well driven and has over 116,000 miles on it. It was well maintained, and a one owner car, but it is what it is. It needs some work. It is still a driver, runs good, and I would not hesitate to drive it for distance.
This car is being sold As-Is, no warranty. I am not a mechanic, but I try to explain all the problems I can see with the car, so you can decide. I want you to be satisfied with the vehicle. I can only put up so many pictures. Please contact me with any questions and I will respond as honestly as I can. If you need more photos, contact me and I will get them to you.
