Description

This 1963 Pontiac Tempest Pro Street was built to do only one thing - go fast! And with a performance-built big block V8, huge rear tires, and bold yellow paint, it doesn't try to hide its speedy intentions... which means everyone will hide from you on the street and the strip. Tempests are great cars to start with as a Pro Street custom build because they are small in size, light in weight, but big in stature. And... when you take a coupe like this and render it in bold shade of yellow, it really brings out the best in Pontiac's design. But the reason why you love this is because of the detail work. Painting the bumpers to match helps highlight other elements like the wide dual grilles and the quad afterburner taillights. And this has true race-ready upgrades like the huge six-inch cowl induction hood, lightweight Lexan windshield & side windows, and Centerline polished competition wheels. And speaking of the wheels, everyone will instantly take note of how wide the rear ones are. Inside the full black interior looks great against the exterior yellow, and you can see there was a big investment to give this everything needed to be the street king. The Jaz front bucket seats look like they belong in a race car, and have five-point RCI harnesses. The ten-point roll cage adds the right strength and safety. There's a huge AutoMeter Autogage tach with shift-light mounted high on the dashboard so it's always easy to see. The fuel pressure gauge is on the hood, so it's also mounted high. Pistol shifter w/electric solenoid, delay box, full auxiliary readouts, and a Painless Performance ignition/start box mounted overhead complete the competition-style full package. As great as everything else is, it's what in the engine bay that you're going to love most about this upgraded Pontiac. The 505 cubic-inch V8 is a tidy setup that you can tell was built for serious power. It has been enhanced and fortified with a 12.5:1 compression, Comp Cams solid rollers, Brodix aluminum heads, Comp Cams forged valve covers, Weiand Track Warrior intake, and topped with a massive Holley 1050 Dominator carburetor. Everything from the steel-braided lines to the aluminum radiator tell you this was built to be stout. Plus, the long tube headers add even more power while also contributing to the thunder of the dual exhaust. The stout TH400 three-speed transmission was built for true quarter-mile duty, and it includes a reverse valve body, 3500 stall, and SFI bellhousing. You have a strong Ford 9-inch rear with 35-spline Strange spool axle and 4.30 gears for quick take-offs. This was built to put serious power to the ground. That's why you have the rear end tubbed for those wide Hoosier racing slicks. Plus, there's a ladder bar rear end with diagonal link and adjustable coilovers. You even have the fuel cell and dual batteries over the rear wheels for better weight distribution. And there are large front disc brakes to keep stopping well in hand. The sale comes with maintenance records and build receipts that show $10k invested in motor and transmission components alone. This Pontiac is so mean, it's just barely enough on the right side of the law enough to get a license plate hung on the back. So you know you want it. Call today!!!
