Description

1963 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible. Very good original condition. Extremely solid dry body. Was a midwest car. Off the road since 2008, stored in dry storage.

Original 389 V8 4-barrel, doesn't look like it's ever been apart. Hydra-matic trans. Runs well, doesn't leak and didn't have any showing in it's long storage spot. The power steering is smooth and the power brakes work great. The car drives straight, shifts smooth and floats along with no shudders or drifting. I've only taken it on a short ride but you can tell its a sound car.

The new convertible top goes down without issue. No tears or blemishes of any kind. Back window is clear, no cracks. The convertible frame is in excellent condition. The body is solid with minor blemishes appropriate for its age. Has only a limited few spots of rust. This is not a rusty North East car. The paint does show its age in some places but buffed up well and looks great from 10 feet. All the glass is in very good shape, no fogging or cracks. The windows operate as they should. The big doors open and close with ease, no sag. Shut solid. Both handles work.

The underside of the car is in very good shape. The boxed perimeter frame is solid, no rot. Both the floor and trunk pans are original and sound.

The exterior chrome is all there and in good condition… some dull areas and a little bit of pitting but good drivers quality and shined up well. The whitewall tires look new with plenty of tread. Has the now hard to find (as in pricey) wire spinner wheel covers in beautiful shape.

The interior is the leather seating area style (only the convertible in 1963 had leather seats). The sitting area of both drivers and passenger front seats show age cracks but aren't coming apart and are still pliable The dashboard has all its gauges and original working Delco radio with rear speaker option. Fan, heat and defrost control works. The red heat color wheel looks and works like new. The steering wheel is intact and the clear sections aren't coming apart but they are discolored. The interior chrome does have some light pitting in a few areas but still presents well. The rug is in good shape except on the bottom of the door panels where it’s faded. All the vinyl trim is beautiful, except on the top of the dash which has the typical age related cracks.

Overall impression is a solid drivers #3 automobile. This vehicle has obviously been taken care of over its 53 years of ownership. I wish I could keep it but have too many cars/projects already.
