1989 Pontiac Firebird V8 * Performance Upgrades

This is my 1989 Pontiac Firebird 305. Very nice shape considering its unrestored condition.

Solid body and undercarriage.

It's fun to drive and has some aftermarket performance modifications to the engine, exhaust, transmission and differential. Has Trans Am GTA wheels and Cooper 245/50VR16 Tires with less than 5000 Miles

Engine: Edelbrock TBI Performer Intake Manifold Part # 3704; Mr. Gasket Open Air Cleaner

Exhaust: Jegs Shorty Headers (don't remember part #) ; 3 Inch Off-Road Y-Pipe with full Flomaster 80 Series exhaust system.

Transmission: Aftermarket Stall Converter - Don't know the stall speed.

Differential: Jegs 4.10:1 rear gears with Posi Limited Slip Differential; T/A Performance Read Differential Girdle

New parts and Maintenance:

New 153-tooth Flexplate (March 2019).

New AC Delco Starter Motor (March 2019).

New Spark Plugs, Distributor Cap/ Rotor, PCV Valve, Oil/Filter Change (June 2019).

Transmission Fluid/ Filter change (November 2018).

Wiper blades (May 2019).

Differential Cover Gasket, Fluid (Feb 2019).

New AC Delco Alternator (July 2018).

Overall Condition and specifics:

Paint: Overall shiny with good clear coat but has some small chips. Some paint missing on the front bumper and faded paint on rear bumper and trunk lid. Spoiler is in great shape.

Sunroof: Non factory. NO LEAKS.

Interior: Beautiful tan interior. Seats have NO tears. Door panels are very nice and dash pad has no cracks. Just a very small cut near the left corner. No radio.

Electronics: Air Conditioner BLOWS COLD. Works great. Power windows work well. Power door locks work but the latches don't move.

Headlights pop up quickly BUT don't lower. I have to manually lower them.

Instrumentation: Speedometer stopped working last year. Odometer also stopped working at 119,467 miles. My best guess, I'm at 125K miles at the moment. Installed aftermarket oil pressure gauge that works PERFECTLY.

Drive: Overall it runs and drives well. Shifts are firm but not uncomfortable. Engine idles beautifully. Good acceleration.

Engine runs well ALTHOUGH when cold, it hesitates under acceleration until engine had been running for a few minutes. I let the engine idle for 5 minutes before driving away.

Starter Motor Solenoid gets warm after driving for a while because of heat from the aftermarket headers. HARD to start until it cools down sometimes.

SOME whining from the rear gears. Ive added the LSD additive but it still whines. Not too bad and mechanically, no issues.

I've enjoyed this car for a long time but time to sell and explore other projects.
