The car remained with the original owner in Pennsylvania for many years before being relocated to Illinois, then trading hands in-state a couple of times. While the car saw a color change from Singapore Gold to Black in the 90s, it retains its original engine, correct black vinyl interior, and will come with a good bit of documentation, including the original manual and PA license plate, Pontiac Historical Society documents, and a $16k comprehensive inspection/service receipt from August 2019. As it sits now, this excellent example is in need of nothing other than a new owner who will use and enjoy it. Exterior: - Please see the video along with the listing, as the car is shown in detail. Blemishes are all shown close-up and under direct sunlight. Blemishes include a handful of minor chips, a ding on the passenger fender, and a few small scuffs on the vinyl roof. - While the car was originally Singapore Gold, it was repainted black by the second owner, back in the 90s. While the car definitely looks sharp in black on black, we’d love to have seen it in gold. Paint is very much presentable, but there are a few areas to be aware of. There are some bubbles along the hood crease on the driver’s side; not necessarily rust, but evidence of a less-than-perfect prep job prior to paint. There is also a little bit of visible dust nibs under the paint on top of the passenger front fender. Not glaring, but it is there. - Glass and light lenses are all clear and crack-free. Lights and signals are all functional. - Wheels are in excellent shape, with no curb rash or damage. Cooper Trendsetter SE tires are in nice shape as well, with no dryness or significant wear. - Black vinyl top is in great shape, though there are a few little nicks on it. There is a small dent in the top at the passenger forward corner. Again, please defer to the video for a close look. Vinyl has a nice deep black shine, not tired or faded. - Chrome is excellent. Front and rear bumpers are both free of oxidation or damage. Mirror-like finish. - Panel fitment is good and the doors open and close nice and smooth. No slamming. Interior: - Interior is a definite highlight. Beauuuutiful. The black carpet (also on lower doors) is a bit tired/discolored, but aside from that, the interior is fantastic. The original radio was swapped for a retro Custom Autosound Concours USA-230 unit, which is functional and sounds great. It does have an aux/iPhone hookup as well. Dash wood face was also replaced when the radio was installed. Gauges are all functional, with the exception of the analog clock (lens has a crack in it too). Odometer reads 64,511 and is functional. The third and current owner believes this to be correct and we agree that it’s very likely, but while we see no signs to indicate otherwise, we cannot make that claim with absolute, 100% certainty. Blower/heat are functional. This car was not originally optioned with air conditioning, and it has not been added. Seats were reupholstered in correct black vinyl just this year and are excellent. Headliner is clean and tight. Interior lights are all functional. Sills are nice and clean. Black rubber floormats look great. Dash top is free of any cracks, damage, or discoloring. Power windows are functional, roll up/down with force and fit nicely. Mechanical / Underbody: - Please take a look through the underbody photos, as the car is documented in detail. This car looks very good underneath. Nice and dry, with solid metal and many new parts. No active leaks or dry rubber, which is great to see. No damage or rust. - In August of 2019, in preparation for sale, the owner brought the car in for a comprehensive inspection and going-through. The car was thoroughly ironed out, to the tune of $16k. Please inquire for a scan of the work order, as the list is extensive. Highlights include the rebuilding and installing of a TH400 transmission, new flywheel and starter, new driveshaft, new brake master cylinder and lines, new radiator and fan, new exhaust and mufflers, sand engine bay and refinish, paint engine, and reupholster the black vinyl seats, among many other items. - As it sits now, this car runs and drives beautifully. Buy with confidence; this car is road-trip ready. It starts first turn, idles cool/low/steady, is nice and quiet (new exhaust, no leaks), has nice, direct steering (doesn’t wander), shifts smoothly, pulls hard through the gears, and stops straight and effectively. Ride quality is great, thanks to the new shocks and springs. With any further questions, requests, or to discuss purchasing, please reach out to Jake at 773-273-8257.
