The 1968 Pontiac Firebird is already known for being an aggressive-looking car. But when they add a custom paint package, sport-ready A/C interior, six-speed gearbox, and a modern LS1 V8, it becomes a slick and custom restomod that really turns up the intimidation factor. We could start by telling you this is a code-Q Verdoro Green car from the factory, but the paint here is so much better than what they offered. Sure, the color is right,... but when the sunlight hits it the depth of the professional clearcoat application, it gives this an attention-grabbing luster. Plus, the custom silver paint package looks absolutely awesome. It's on the front air dam, rear panel, special 2nd gen Camaro side mirrors, full-width rear spoiler, and custom quarter panel scoops. And it's particularly impressive on the Trans Am-style hood where the full silver panel has Verdoro Green stripes that draw your attention to the hood scoops. So it's a very well-coordinated and thoughtful paint package. There are a ton more great details, like the bright H4 headlights with LED haloes, integrated driving lights, and the LS badging on the rear. Even the wheel package is a cool upgrade. These special alloys that look like Rally II wheels, but with a larger size to accommodate performance tires. And the modern grippy rubber has the classic redline look. There's only about 500 miles on this build, and so the interior is quite fresh. The all-black presentation gives you a muscle car feel, and the restomod status means all the best upgrades. It starts with the Procar bucket seats that offer better bolstering than you could ever get in the '60s. This has great features like a retro-style AM/FM tuner with iPod input and a Custom Auto Sound stereo. And there's also cold-blowing R134a air conditioning. But this in not just a coddler. You know this is a true performance machine with the grippy God Snow three-spoke steering wheel, and beyond that is a full Dakota Digital gauge package. Plus, you have the iconic hood tach, too. And have you counted the number of gears on the shifter yet. The heart of this beast is an upgraded fuel-injected 5.7-liter LS1. You'll love popping the hood at all the car shows and watching everyone marvel at the modern V8 and custom-painted Pontiac Blue components. This powerplant is borrowed from a 4th gen Camaro. It had about 18k miles on it, so the odometer reflects the original miles on the motor and the approx. 500 miles added since the full restoration/creation. Beyond just adding modern GM motor, this one has been upgraded with go-fast goodies. The V8 has a mild Howards cam and upgraded valve springs. It inhales deeply from a cold air intake, and the V8 exhales with authority through headers connect to an H-pipe dual exhaust. This V8 screamer needs stout parts to get all the power to the ground. This why you have the complete control of a six-speed manual transmission, and that feeds an Eaton rear end with Positraction and 4.11 gear for powerful take-offs. Plus, power steering, power brakes w/discs up front, and a tubular A-arm front suspension makes this a great-driving restomod. Complete with the original buildsheet, there was a lot of time, inspiration, and money invested into making this Firebird. It's all the iconic pieces you love about a first-generation coupe backed up the best in modern components.
