1972 Pontiac Lemans 455 HO Survivor California post Car T37 Incredible Car
Description
Recently featured in the June 2016 issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines magazine. Real good article. A copy of magazine comes with purchase. The clean Pontiac started out as an '72 Lemans Post coupe with 350 engine, approximately 15 years ago the car was bought in California, still has all original body panels and some paint touch up, overall survivor appearance. Vehicles like this don't come around very often. The car was purchased to be a Pure Stock Race car, so the transformation began. The car was to become a duplicate of a 1971 Pontiac T37 455 HO car, which only 11 were factory built, 4 automatics and 7 stick cars. Only a couple of them are known to exist today.I bought the car with no engine but it came with a fresh professionally rebuilt turbo 400 transmission and 12 bolt saf-t-track rear end with 3.73 gears and Moser axles. Boxed lower control arms and rear sway bar. The front suspension is all redone and detailed, ball joints, bushings, shocks etc. Engine compartment is clean and detailed. I had a 455 professionally built and dyno'd for the car. My intention was for performance and street use, so there is no race only components on the car, this is a driver. The 455 is a 1970 4 bolt main block bored .030 over with new pistons and performance rods, factory 197 round port heads with all new stainless valves and springs etc., Lunati cam, intake is factory aluminum, new cast iron headers, with 2 1/2 inch mandrel bent exhaust, sounds awesome. I even found an NOS q-jet and had it rebuilt with modern internals and even had bushings put in for the throttle shafts. The car made outstanding torque and horsepower numbers 437 hp @ 4,900 rpm's and 538 ft/lbs torque @ 3,400 rpm's. See dyno sheet. The car starts, runs, and drives excellent. I believe I put less than 300 miles on it, in 3 years. I just don't have the time any more and have made a personal decision to get out of the car hobby. The interior of this car is outstanding, no cracks in the dash or steering wheel, seats, carpet, headliner are perfect. Real clean low mile survivor. Never smoked in. Ash tray and lighter never used. Low optioned car, AM radio, factory in dash tach and gauges, power steering. The rims are new reproduction 14" x 7" with new Firestone Wide Oval Bias ply tires and matching spare. Jack and components all in the trunk. The bumpers shine nice, like new, but are original. Grilles have been changed to be correct for '71 T37. This is just a real cool unique car, with perhaps one of the best engines Pontiac ever produced.I am including my phone number for capable buyers. I have all positive feedback going on well over 10 years. The car is sold as is and where is. The buyer is reasonable for transporting fees. I can and will assist by making myself available if a shipper is required. I believe in constant communication and cooperation with a transaction like this. Terms will be cash in person or bank wire transfer, no checks. (616) 897-6503 Steve
When you do the math on the cost of purchasing and building a car exactly like this, you will not be able to duplicate it for my Buy it Now price. This is a turn key car.
