Description

1970 GTO TRUE 242 AMERICAN MUSCLE
This is the one you have been waiting for....Bring your reasonable offers, she has to go....
I have owned this car for over 30 years and it has been a great journey, but life changes and so do priorities..
Non Number matching vehicle but everything on the car is PERIOD CORRECT MOSTLY O.E.
Very few repop parts, weather stripping, window fuzzies, carpet that kind o chit.
This car was originally Atoll Blue With Blue interior, 400CI motor, auto trans LS diff, power disc brakes all around, factory AC car.
FUN FACTS:
100% RUST FREE CAR!!! AS SOLID AS YOU WILL EVER FIND!!!!!
This car was always stored in a heated garage since I owned it.
The car is not a 100 point concours restoration, it is more of a preservation than a full blown restoration, it does not have a room full of trophies to go with it (not my thing) but an EXCELLENT driver that survived 46 years of life & still going STRONG!! NOT a garage queen that you are afraid of every bird or bug that gets near it, Back in the day we used to say, all GO & no SHOW.
THE CAR:
The car has an older repaint which is in great shape for its age (early '00's) some bubbles, chips here & there, and one dent in the drivers quarter panel near the bumper, see pix.
At that time NEW FACTORY OE FENDERS & FULL FACTORY OE QUARTERS were professionally installed, try to find them now!! The repop panels are nowhere near the quality
of OE.
Body was off the frame any minor issues addressed at the time, frame was stripped and epoxy coated, body bushings & all brake and fuel lines were replaced with SS lines.
ENGINE:
The '70 XH code engine was professionally rebuilt, balanced & blueprinted to factory RAM AIR III SPECS, including #13 72cc BIG VALVE RA III D port Heads, RA III cam, Factory NOS RA III #9791637 & 9797072 D port exhaust manifolds 5+k miles on rebuild
The Edlebrock intake manifold was replaced back to a stock RA III #9799068 D port unit, and Holley carb was replaced with a 17036274 Quadrajet carburetor which was COMPLETELY rebuilt & modified with the help of the legendary Cliff Ruggles, She runs SMOOTH like a fuel injected motor!!!!!
TRANSMISSION:
Turbo 400 with street shift kit installed shifts smooth, but definite. She will chirp 3rd, I don't remember what converter was installed, controlled by a factory Hurst His & Her's shifter from a 68 GTO. The car is very drivable on the street & strip (not my thing either) & cruising around town or on the highway, ready to take it where ever you want to go. 5+k miles on rebuild
REAR END:
BRAND NEW built 12 bolt posi-traction rear 3:73 gearing 500 miles since rebuild new universal joints front & rear.
INTERIOR: was changed to black, front seats were recovered rear seat is an original black seat no rips or tears repop carpet
Wheels & tires:
The wheels are pretty rare 15" RADIR 5 spoke aluminum forged wheels made famous by the late great George Barris on the Bat Mobile, Munster coach and other classic builds he did in the day wrapped in tiger paw tires.
This car sat stashed in a heated garage for approximately 7 years during & after my divorce, she WAS NOT GETTING IT!!!!
During the winter of 2014 the car had a FULL go through again, EVERYTHING WAS CHANGED. I went through the car completely as I planned to keep & enjoy it forever.
ALL suspension bushings, upper & lower front & rear control & link arm bushings, upper & lower ball joints, Center link, tie rod ends, sway bar bushings & links, wheel bearings, Bilstien shocks, springs front & rear.
Front & rear brake calipers, master cylinder, proportioning valve, pads, rubber lines all 4 corners.
Motor & trans mounts, full fluid flush, trans filter, trans pan valve cover intake manifold & valley pan gaskets, belts, hoses, fuel filter, SS fuel line & pump & sending unit, water pump with separator plate mod, trans modulator, E brake system, electronic distributor, plugs, wires, engine compartment wire harness, all sending units & relays.
Anything that needed to be replaced was, even minor items that "while I was there" were replaced just because..
The complete interior was removed including the dash to sort any minor wiring, burned out dash bulbs and vacuum issues for the heat & AC that were there.
A new heater core, & blower motor, all functions work defrost bi level & heat.
Radiator was replaced with a Desert Cool 4 core repop that looks exactly like factory, trans lines were replaced with SS units (I have the original rad which is still good but 46 yrs old) but not worth taking the chance. The car runs cool no over heating issues.
Full Auto meter gauge compliment was also installed.
I have a bunch of film pictures of this car's history from back in the day, some funny, some scary, but ALL GOOD!!!
I have a ton of extra parts that will go along with the car, many IMPOSSIBLE to find.
Most if not ALL of the parts that you don't see on the car that should be there I have, I just never got around to put them on, including but not limited to all the GTO & RA decals, OE rear valance (needs some work) exhaust splitters, inner fender splash skirts along with research materials, service & assembly manuals. Original owners manual & TONS of receipts along the way.
I have a lot of parts I hoarded over the years, from screws to seats.... All the AC parts are in storage along with the brackets to mount them.
With ALL spare parts if the negotiated price is reasonable
Thank you for considering this fine piece of American history
