Description

1968 GTO Verdoro Green convertible PHS documented – Barn Find The Story OK, not really a barn find exactly, but its that type of car – I am listing this for a friend (his family) who passed away in 2016. He purchased it in 1995, and it had been sitting inside before that since 1977. Still has the license plate on it from the last time it was licensed. It needs to be restored, yes, but its not often you find something as unmodified as this... And the desirable Verdoro green color with hide away headlights. Odometer read 58,900. 242678P245792 I will post many more pictures at https://www.flickr.com/gp/151510303@N02/j67i26
The Specs from PHS: Dealer Zone 10 #455 Seltzer Pontiac, Chicago, Illinois. 400 CID – 350 Hp YS TurboHydraMatic 400 Verdoro Green Black Top Black Interior Assembly Plant: Pontiac Michigan 3.36 Saf-T-Track rear AM Radio Pushbutton Manual Antenna Hide Away Headlights Rally II wheels Power Steering Power Brakes Tinted Windshield Only G70x14 while letter wide oval The Condition When he bought this in 1995, it ran. We trailered it home but drove it into the garage. He did not do any work to this car except take the gas tank out, as it started leaking at some point. There is a new tank included with the car. The straps were put back into place under the car. The engine still turns over. Also, he purchased a set of bucket seats that are the 1968 option of bucket seats with headrests and the passenger seat reclines. A pretty rare option, but this car did not come with option but he felt the headrests looked better. Also I had to remove some of the front drum brake shoes/parts to get the car to roll freely. The convertible top needs to be replaced, but powers up and down fine. The passenger door won't open. The clock in the dash is missing, I haven't been able to find it. The dashpad was cut and someone installed gauges there. There is rust in the car, but its not extensive. The floors and trunk floors are fine. There is some rust in the quarters and some filler on the left side. Also the lower rear of the fenders. There is also an alarm key installed in the left front fender. The endura is bent in a few places and has had some bad repairs done, but included is a nice straight Endura. Also the hood has a slight (1/2”) bend in it on the left side. The hood hinges are off but included. The car has headers on it, and some holes were cut in the inner fenders, presumably for better access to the bolts. Original exhaust manifolds are included. The seat belts and door sill plates were removed but are included. This is a "number matching" car. The VIN number is also present on the front of the block. Some other parts that are included: A dash pad in nice condition, would be perfect except for a few depressions that can be seen in the pictures. A driver side eyebrow chrome molding for the front valance, the one on the car has an end broken off. A nice straight Endura bumper is also included. Owners manual, remains of the original build sheet (PHS is also included) An engine harness (used) Some original floor mats that are not perfect. A new package (set) of window felt weatherstrips for a convertible. A new gas tank. An original jack that needs to be restored. Also includes the original 1968-only jack adapter. The original top boot is there as well, but is old and pretty much needs to be replaced. 2 black kick panels that are better than the ones in the car. The Terms Shown in the pictures are 15” Rally II Wheels and Firestone Firehawk SS's – these are not included in this auction but are available for $500 if you want them. I will put 4 plain steel wheels on the car to transport if you do not want the Rally's. The parts that are pictured and listed are included, like the dash pad, etc. There are some other parts that are available for purchase if you wish. A deposit (paypal is ok) of $500 will be required within 3 days of the auction ending to hold the car until you can pick up. Paypal is ok for the deposit, but not the entire value of the car. Delivery is not available by me. I will absolutely help load the car onto a trailer when you arrive or if you send someone else. No checks will be accepted. Also note that you should not think you can be bidder on this car and arrive to negotiate about the price of the car. The final bid on the car on eBay will be the price of the car. I'll include many pictures on a flickr site above to show as much as possible about the car, please ask any questions you need to. Here is a rare chance to own and restore an original 1968 GTO convertible in Verdoro Green and black, number matching, with PHS documentation...
