It’s time to part with my 74 911 Targa. I purchased the car from an individual in Seattle in October 1979 and have owned it in the San Francisco Bay Area ever since. It has served me well as a daily driver, autocross car, track car and currently a daily driver. I have removed most of the track oriented enhancements, but it still maintains sports seats, upgraded Carrera brakes just rebuilt and bled, larger master cylinder, externally adjustable Koni shocks, 5-speed transmission with a Quaife, Seine Systems Gate Shift Kit, larger torsion bars, triangular strut brace, 16” 7 & 8” BBS wheels with almost new Bridgestone RE11 tires, RS rear fenders, a 3.0 liter mag case engine with less than 55K miles with compression on all cylinders varying only 5 psi, passenger tire well external oil cooler and some rock chips from all the spirited driving. It began life Yellow, spent a few years Peru Red and now sports a good looking Guards Red.
The car has some warts, but nothing serious. It creaks and groans, but it is a 43 year old Targa! There appears to be some rust in the lower front corner of the driver’s side door, but it has not grown in 15 years. The rear seat back rests host some rodent damage. All the instruments work, although the speedo is noisy at low <25 MPH speeds. It has an aftermarket radio and even has the original collapsible spare, working tire pump, tool kit and owner’s manual.
I hope she can find a good home.
