Porsche 911 RSR

Description

This 1987 Porsche 911 is a 3.2L Carrera that has been modified and backdated in the style of '70s 911 RSR. The car was bought approximately four years ago with the bare-metal bodywork already done, and since then has completed the interior and toned down the look by replacing the front bumper and rear decklid. The modifications were intended to evoke an early 911 cosmetically while benefitting from the mechanical improvements of the later cars, with an extensive set of performance enhancements to boot. The car features a very clean custom interior, modified 3.2L engine with headers with GT3 style exhaust, and more detailed below. The backdating effort involved replacing the standard Carrera plastic front and rear bumpers and adding steel 930 style rear fenders, a GT Racing fiberglass long nose kit, and 964 style side skirts. The red front bumper and swapped the rear ducktail spoiler which a 964 style decklid with functional retractable spoiler to refine the aesthetic. Wheels are custom built 17×8 and 17×9 Fuchs, welded up using authentic original Fuchs wheels. The interior has been completely customized with the same '70s 911 racer theme in mind. The seats are custom built 911R style buckets from Vintage Seats with perforated German leather on the bolsters and black basket weave on the inserts. A lightweight RSR carpet kit is installed, along with a Momo Prototipo steering wheel and a Hargett Pro G50 shifter. Other interior mods include RS style door pulls, custom basketweave door cards to match the seats, a Retrosound vintage-look radio, and a roll bar. The heater and air conditioner have been removed. The 3.2L Carrera engine was rebuilt around 6200 miles ago with Raceware head studs. The G50 transmission is in good condition with no weak synchros or other issues.
