1987 944 Turbo - Street legal DE/Trackday car - Records go back to Delivery!
Description
Powertech Select Motorcars is pleased to offer this excellent street/track 944 Turbo. It is finished Alpine White (repainted in 2006) over Linen interior.
This 944 Turbo is street legal and drivable, but it is very well set up for track/DE events. It has been most recently owned by two NNJR members and DE participants.
This 951 has been modified for the track and extensively maintained, the file of maintenance records/upgrades is literally an inch or more thick. The following is a listing of the modifications:
Performance/Safety:
- M030 front and rear sway bars
- Leda adjustable coilovers
- Slotted rotors
- Recaro SDR seats (foldable)
- Autopower bolt-in roll bar with harnesses (harnesses have expired)
- Fire Extinguisher
- GHL custom headers, B&B muffler with cat-delete straight pipe
- K&N air filter
- Turbo cup turbo
- Lindsey Racing aux oil cooler (driver's side fog light removed for air input)
- Autothority DME and chip
- Short shifter
Cosmetic/Convenience:
- 968 mirrors, door handles and rear spoiler
- Euro carbon fiber rear bumper
- Fiske FM 10 wheels
- Momo steering wheel
- Alpine head unit with XM radio
- Aluminum pedals
The car has outstanding maintenance documentation, as we have invoices and book stamps that go back to when the car was delivered! It has been maintained primarily by Precision Motorsports in Califon since 2001. Powertech in Rockaway conducted the most recent maintenance and inspection, finding it to be a very solid 944 Turbo.
Most recent maintenance items include:
Jan 2018: New Battery, replace alternator belt, replace power steering rack, pump belt and fluid, replace passenger power window switch, brake fluid flush/replacement
Dec 2013: Valve job, replace valve guides and exhaust valves, install hi-RPM inner valve springs, resurface cylinder head, install head gasket, replace spark plugs, replace fuel injectors, replace lower radiator hose, oil/filter change, install 951 Turbo S front calipers and 928S4 discs, and Pagid pads, flush brake fluid
June 2013: Install of front and rear Rennline tie downs, replace fuel filter, oil/filter change
Oct 2013: Replace rear brake rotors and pads,
May 2013: New tires (5k miles ago)
Aug 2012: Front struts rebuild
July 2012: Cam and balance belt adjustment, replacement of rear wheel bearings,
Jan 2010 (130k miles): Replacement of cam and balance shaft belts, belt rollers, cam, balance and deflection rollers
In addition, the engine was rebuilt at 96k miles due to head gasket failure, along with transmission syncros at 82k miles. In total, we have paper receipts that go back to 1997 in addition to the stamps in the maintenance book from delivery until 2002.
It was modified to be a track car, but it drives well on the street given this, and cosmetically it looks very good considering it is primarily a track car. The paint shines up well as do the polished Fiske's. Notable blemishes are pointed in the pictures.
The air conditioning and third (center) brake light has been removed, as well as the shoes for the parking brake (therefore e-brake does not work). There are minor cracks along multiple vents on the dash, though the car does come with a carpeted dash cover. The sunroof is inoperable and the passenger side headlight has a crack.
We have the original front seats (in great shape), the top section of the rear seats, steering wheel and cat converter/pipe.
