1967 Porsche 912 Targa
Description
1967 Porsche 912 Targa. This was a barn find for me about 18 years ago. I bought it as a father-son project but my son found another interest and we never even really started on it. I bought it pretty much as you see it. Now, it can be a barn find for you too!
This car has some very rare and desirable features that make it an excellent candidate for restoration!:
1) #115 of only 544 built that year.
2) The odometer shows 57294 miles. I don't know if it is accurate.
3) TARGA TOP: is in amazingly good condition. It operates smoothly and the exterior vinyl is intact.
4) FIVE GAUGES
5) FIVE SPEED TRANSMISSION (not installed)
6) FUCHS WHEELS (good shape but one has a very little curb rash.)
7) TARGA BAR STAINLESS STEEL cover in very good condition. No dents. One minor scuff.
8) TONNEAU COVER: in good condition.
9) Headlights, tail lights are in good shape.
10) ENGINE: Likely Non Matching engine. No serial number in usual location. I was told it had been rebuilt and had less than 100 miles on it before the car was disassembled for restoration. I was also told the carburetors had been recently rebuilt as well and had never been installed. I have manually turned the engine over frequently and have used fogging oil to keep it free. Spins easily by hand. It has been on the engine stand for 15 years. Muffler looks almost new. One of the heater boxes is rusted through. The other one looks good.
11) INTERIOR: I have most (all?) of the old interior pieces; carpet, tops of door panels, panel under targa bar, trim around rear window, foot boards, heater/vent doors, front & rear seats & hardware, Seats are in much better shape than the pictures show. They are “dented” from storage and packaging but sound and functional. Somebody cut holes in the doors for speakers.
12) NEW PARTS INCLUDED: tie rods, dual brake cylinder, caliper rebuild kits, new brake disks, all new brake lines, new pedal bushings. Most (maybe all) of the body rubber/seals/gaskets, including for the targa top. Trunk lid prop cylinders. Replacement sheet metal for door jambs and nose (around front tow hook). Heater control cables, Throttle cable,
13) BODY: IT HAS A LOT OF RUST. I’ve seen worse. I’ve highlighted much of it in orange in the photos on the interior shots. There is a bad attempt at a repair around the driver’s side rear torsion tube area. I have a large section of a salvaged 911 that has all of the replacement metal for these areas of rust that goes with the car. The bottom door skins are rusted. Bottom 6” of front fenders and rear quarter panels (around the torsion tube access holes) are rusted. New floor pans installed.
More photos available.
You will need a flatbed for the car itself. The parts, engine, transmission will fill a pickup bed.
