1978 Porsche 911 SC 3.0l
Description
1978 Porsche 911 SC for sale This is not a 911 that someone found a major issue with and is selling it. This is a sorted worked diamond with original paint and a long service story So here we go. This is a California Car bought in 1978 via a custom order from the factory in Petrolium Blue. Petrolium blue was only offered in Turbos in 1978 so this color is extremely rare in an SC. I have to this day never seen another one. This is a 1978. If you know SC's the 78 and 79 had bigger intake and exhaust valves than 80-83 SC's because of emissions laws of the day, and as such they are better to work on to make more hp. I am the second owner of this car, I have owned it since 1994. The original owner had a aftermarket turbo in it, and that proved to be explosive 22k miles ago. So after the engjne threw 2 valves from over boosting, it was time to put her back in a new and better way. The engine was rebuilt by Rudtners racing in Freeport NY. Engine rebuild was as follows.1) 3 liter Mahle high compression pitsons at 9.8:1 Euro spec, with brand new matching sleeves all 6 cylinders are new.2) heads were ported and polished with titanium valve springs.3) Dilvar head studs replaced the stock ones that bend and leak.4) Case came apart, was checked for every tolerance and put back together with new oil pump as well.. New timing Chains were installed.6) Oil Fed chain tensioner's were added.7) 40 year old car doesnt need to pass smog here so air pump and all the junk is gone, No cats, straight race pipe goes back to the most amazing full stainless Fab Speed dual 4 inch out muffler. This car sounds like a Donzi when you start it. its amazing.8) turbo valve covers were added.9) steel braided fuel lines10) got rid of the old CD box, and juky permatune i had, and its running on a MDS now and it is awesome. Motor is a beast, runs like it should, leaks a drop here and there. But there is really nothing to fix in there. its all done.11) battery is 2 years old.Outside of the car.. Petrolium blue.. what can i say.. its the best. I have a period correct Whale tale on it.. not the turbo tale. I put 7x16 front and 8x16 fuchs in back on it.. Stock is 6x16 front and 7x16 rear. This is the way to go on this car as the tires really fill up the wheel wells.. the front fenders and rear were rolled so they never hit the tires, which are 20k mile old Yokohama AD-08's! Amazing! It has the carrera later chin spoiler on it as well. There is a tiny dent on the roof from a golf ball. thats the only dent on the car.. and its really small. The paint is 40 years old but i give it a 9.5 out of 10 for presentation. The car is super clean. Zero rust.. Cali car that since in NY has never been outside of the garage when not moving.Inside.. the car was all Saddle tan when I got it. It had the cracked dashboard, so when i got a new one ( you could only get black I started to work on the inside) I put the black one in. Looked weird so that project started. Got black door tops, black matts, and changed the back sun panel to black and top of the rear seats to black.. kept the rest saddle. and it looked great.. Then I sold the stock seats and replaced them with a set of black leather seats out of a 89 turbo. These are so much better than the stock seats.. they have huge bolsters. Momo steering wheel and Shift knob, new kenwood with subwoofer etc.. its all there..Other nice additions.. within the last 20k milesnew rebuilt steering box, the steering on this car is as solid as you will ever feel in any car period. there is zero and I mean Zero slop.. its an amazing thing to feel.turbo tie rods also help this.new steering wheel bushings.. yea they go too. (in the steering column)new wheel bearingsnew break discs and pads.New fuel pump.Timing just set when i put the msd in.Went through serviced CIS injection system.Hows it drive? I had the car with the last set of tires I put on it sent to Rudtners racing. Where they changed...1) Lowered to Euro height and was corner balanced on their racing scales..2) Every bushing on all control arms and torsion bars were replace with not factory rubber, but Derlyn Nylon racing bushings.. the difference is amazing and you will never have to replace them again.3) changed the torsion bars from 19mm front to 23mm on the front. Changed the back torsion bar from 23mm to 28mm. So it rolls on the same Torsion bars as a Turbo does. Its stiffer yes, but the handling is out of this world and its like driving a race car every day. There are so many projects i have done on this car throughout the years, so i can say with 100% confidence that this is one of the Nicest, unmolested 911 SC's you will find that hasn't gone through a full restoration. the car is a head turner, its fast, handles like its on rails and its truly an amazing car.On Aug-12-18 at 08:04:52 PDT, seller added the following information:12) valve adjustment and tune up just done
