1979 Porsche 911 SC 3.0L Coupe, Steel head studs, runs good, low mileage
Description
1979 Porsche 911 SC Coupe Euro model
I purchased this on ebay a couple months ago and have only put about 30 miles on it. I also bought a 993 911 and can't keep both so I'm letting this go. Below is the description from when I bought it. The pictures are from the purchase as well (except the first two pictures which are in my garage). I am using the description and photo's because the previous seller was very accurate. The only difference from the attached pictures is that I replaced the yellow headlight glass with clear. The yellow glass is included as are a spare seat and windshield. (Yes, the one owner Yugo is also available.)
Schwarz Metallic Color that has been resprayed by PO owner, not perfect but it shines up nice. Has paint over the front fender gaskets and on the rubber gaskets for the side mirrors too.
This is a good "driver" condition car, its runs and drives very nicely, pulls very hard. Motor has been rebuilt prior to my ownership but I do not have paper work, it does have STEEL head studs now instead of the weak Dilavar studs that will break, this is a very strong motor. No smokes or leaks. I have owned many aircooled Porsches in the past and have a small collection of other makes at the moment. I drove this car from Frederick Maryland to the Werks Reunion in Amelia Island Florida this past event without any issues. I was preparing the 911 for HPDE events with my local PCA so it does have replica 16x9 rears and 16x7 front brand new wheels and Toyo T1R tires new. Koni adjustable rears with Bilstein fronts, lowered torsion bar to Euro ride height. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car anywhere. This motor also never runs hot, and still has the factory heat.
Because it is a Euro model there was never any cats installed on the exhaust and it has always been a 2 in 1 out system until I installed a Sport Style rear muffler. The car is a bit loud and very racey sounding, but wow does it move and sound tough. Also it has the factory larger port SC heads which the later SC's did not get, Euro gearing in the 915 box and also a different distributor curve for the CIS, all factory euro. The gauges are also Euro which means its all in KM, so the car has 168,409 KM which is 104,000 miles. All of the electrics work as should including the sunroof and rear wiper!
The vehicle was fitted with French glass Hella front H4's, but all Euros got H4's anyway. It has the paint to match front light covers which come with the car and the original clear lenses too. The car has been fitted with 1976 930 black pop out rear quarter windows which match the factory patina of the front trim perfectly. Power windows and rear wiper with rear defrost. Euro bumpers obviously, which have smaller bumperettes in the rear. Front windshield has a rock chip on the passenger side and I have a good spare window I can include if need be. All gauges work as should. Clock too! Battery never dies even if parked for 30+ days, always starts right up. No charging issues.
Interior is worn and dash is leather which could use a recover, Factory seats that are leather, the passenger in it is actually a driver seat which means the flip up lever is on the inside, but I do have the factory passenger seat that came in the car but that seat bottom is torn. Has a Momo Monte Carlo steering wheel with center Porsche horn button. Shifter bushings have been replaced, and shifts pretty good. Just remember this is the 915 trans, so shift slow from 1st to 2nd and everything is fine. Clutch feels good too. The pedal bushings and clutch cable have all been replaced and rebuilt this year. Valve covers and spark plugs replaced this year.
I have some paper work but really not much at all since I do the work myself. All dome lights and windows work great, but it does need a highbeam switch, it doesnt stay engaged. Also needs new ebrake cables, they are worn and do not work strong. Only rust is very little at the inner door jams at the top that meets the quarter windows, it was sprayed with a anti rust spray by previous owner so it looks glossy now. No rust in front trunk or battery tray. Rockers and pan also looks good.
No AC but the car must have had it at one point because there is a AC line access hole in the "smugglers box"., pretty common but probably could be closed off. Under the car there is some damage to the right front pan section, it was like that when I bought the car and hasn't effected handling or suspension at all. The front valance is also a little tweaked in that area. Fuel tank is also in great condition and reads as should be. New Battery this year and never dies, always starts right up on half crank! This is a drive anywhere 911, just shot a video below. Most 911's in this price range are garage or barn finds, this one is close to a daily driver. The price is firm so lets not waste any time, we know its cheap and a coupe.
I tried to be as honest with the car, but in reality this is a very fun very strong driving 911SC, not a project car but a car you can have some fun with. Drive it anywhere, and its a healthy motor too.
I am selling this personally, but am a dealer. If you need it to go through my dealership it can (there will be a $149 doc fee if it does - no doc fee if we keep it an individual to individual sale). Non-refundable $500 deposit due within 24 hours of the end of the auction/sale. Final payment due within 7 days. If the deposit or final payment is not made on time I reserve the right to void the sale. As it is advertised in other locations I also reserve the right to end the auction at any point. I do not offer payments. Interesting trades are a possibility. I have relationships with shipping companies, but frankly, Montway that ebay recommends is pretty good. No bidders with less than 10 positive feedback unless you reach out to me PRIOR to placing a bid - otherwise your bid will be cancelled.
