Last on the road in 1996, this vehicle has been my on & off project since ~2004.

Today, after taking the car off her stands and starting her up for the first time in 5 years, within a minute she began to smoke like never before.Shut her down and underneath she’d dumped about a quart of oil on the garage floor: probably either a blown seal or burst hose.Either way, I’m done, and she’s on the market.There remains a significant amount of work to be done.

The work on this project has been over 15 years with intermittent breaks: much description is from memory.I have attempted to be accurate, but look carefully at the photos, read the terms and ask questions.Prospective buyers are encouraged to view and inspect the car in person before bidding.

I have little sellers’ feedback because the last vehicle I sold on ebay was in 1999 (a ‘75 Corvette that I miss to this day).

Engine/Transmission:

As above.4-speed manual.

2009 - Carbeurators rebuilt.

2014 - New Top ends: cylinders honed, new rings, valves lapped & seals replaced.Chain tensioners rebuilt with safety collars installed.2014 was the last time she was run before today.

New stainless steel heat exchangers .Original ‘bananna’ muffler.

Ignition is wired 1965 style by the previous owner.New points & rev-limiting rotor/cap.New high-tension leads, plugs.Minor issue: There’sdiscontinuity between ignition switch and the positive coil lead.I started it today with a bypass from the positive terminal of the battery.This should be easily rectified.

Found a single helicoil used on the cylinder 1 exhaust port.appeared functional, so was left in place.Another helicoil was used by a previous mechanic in one of the engine-to-transmission bolts: again, appeared functional, so left in place.

Oil temperature gauge inoperative.

Brakes:

Everything appears right, but the car has been in my garage for 15 years.Expect to go through the brake system.

Suspension:

Front suspension: appears functional and is untouched.

Rear: New main bushings.New shocks.Rear torsion rods were pulled, inspected (pristine), repainted & reinstalled.As is obvious from the photos: when reinstalled, I forgot to sufficiently preload the torsion bars: the radius arms should be pulled and repositioned to correct the ride height.

INTERIOR/ELECTRICAL:

All carpets and trim are present, but many trim pieces are tired or torn and should be renewed.I put the seats in and lightly tacked most trim in place for the photos.

The electrical system has not been worked on since the previous owner.All exterior lights currently inoperative.Radio works & gauges worked in 2014, with the exception of the oil temp gauge, which never worked.

BODY/FRAME:

There were two large dents (R front fender, L rear fender) when purchased that looked as though something in a garage had fallen against the car rather than a road accident.The car appears straight.

The left rear fender dent repair (behind the door-lock post) is not finished and is visible in the photos.

The front right fender dent turned out nicely.See photos.

A previous owner’s repair of the lower/back portion of the right front fender was shoddy.The gap is obvious in the photos.This section of the fender is currently available from restoration design for $77.The same section of the front left fender looks fine on the surface but would also benefit from replacement as behind it the drain passage is blocked with a previous repair (i.e. it will eventually rust again).

The driver’s door safety is detatched, as I found out 15 years ago the first day I owned it.The door opened too far and caused a subtle deformity on the front of it that catches on the fender when opening or closing. Difficult to see in the photos.

Front end appears good.Some rust on the battery pans, of course (photo).Otherwise looks solid.

Both outer rocker panel skins were perforated and have been replaced with new:

- Passenger side received a new jack-tube/reinforcing plate and outer support before the outer rocker was installed.

- Driver’s side required a small patch on the middle rocker sheet then received the same jack tube/reinforcing plate/outer support before the outer rocker was installed.See photos documenting this.

Previous owners used lead & bondo on the bottom portions of both door-lock posts where they meet the outer rocker and rear fender.These sections still have significant bondo.While not structural, I would recommend replacing the bottom of each door-lock post (from about 2” below the striker) and the nearby portion of the rear fender.Currently available from restoration design for $82 and $412 respectively.

Both floor pans had rust perforation.The affected passenger side section was replaced.As visible in the photos, the driver side has not yet been done.The replacement pans required for this came with the car when purchased and will be included.On the passenger side there remains a tiny perforation just above the floor pan and below the rear seat. This would benefit from a small patch (perhaps an inch square).

These are the major spots.Elsewhere on the car there are miscellaneous smaller areas of rust: mostly light surface rust (candidates for POR-15).Difficult to categorize.

TARGA TOP/BAR/GLASS:

Targa top fits well.Two or three small exterior rips.One lock handle is missing the black plastic cover.

Glass is in good shape, door windows work.Rear windscreen not currently installed (hence yellow foam under it in the photos).

Brushed aluminum targa bar is not installed: resting atop of the roll bar.

Chrome trim for the rear windscreen rubber is with the car, but obviously not installed.

MISCELLANEOUS/SPARES/NEW-AWAITING INSTALLATION:

A large number of spare gaskets, seals and various small bits/bolts are included.

New: Most of the necessary weatherstripping is included, specifically including the rear window rubber.

Spares trim pieces for the seat hinges.

Haynes repair manual and “101 projects for your porsche”.Both well-worn and stained.

Tire iron, Original jack

Spare rim (no tire).

New 911 aftermarket muffler/pipes as a spare, but would need bending for proper fitment.

The necessary crowsfoot camshaft-nut wrench is included.

The airflow measuring tool for adjusting carbs is included.

All four tires are old and should be replaced. Two very slowly lose air.

Battery is dead.

2. The successful high-bidder must communicate with me within 24 hours of the end of auction.If no communication has occurred within 5 days of the close of auction, the vehicle will be relisted or sold to the next qualified bidder, at my discretion.

3. Full payment, within 3 days, must be accomplished usingcertified check or money order, sent via overnight mail.Given the prevalence of fraud out there, the check/money-ordermustclearpriorto the vehicle being released to a carrier or private person. This usually takes about 3 days.
