I have owned this ’69 912 beauty since 2009. It is my second Porsche after a 1960 356. It is Guardsman Red (originally burgundy, repainted in 1983), in excellent and original condition. It is a great driving car, with tight steering/suspension, and the legendary sound of a Porsche air-cooled 4-cylinder 1582cc engine. It has 88,000 true miles. I have put 5,000 miles on it. It has been driven only in summers/good weather since 1981. The engine is in great condition and was recently tuned. The body is beautiful for a fifty year-old, with only a very few minor nicks and dings – there is no rust on the body or undercarriage. The Targa-top is in good shape. The interior upholstery and carpet is all original and has no rips or tears. All gauges are original and function well. The original Blaupunkt radio does not work. All latches and releases for the doors, fuel filler hatch, engine-lid & front-lid work smoothly and reliably. The engine was rebuilt at 81,000 miles and has been driven 7,000 miles since then. The engine (#4094134) and transmission (#????) are original. Five owners in fifty years. The regional Porsche expert and I went through the car - top to bottom - and agreed it is now in excellent condition as a pleasure-driving, classic piece of Porsche history - not a Concours trailer-queen. The maintenance history and records are available from 1976 to present.
