Thesecond owner of this coupe had the car for 47 years. It was purchased from Gerhard Klagge of Evansville, INwho purchased the car from the Factory in Germany. Klagge was employed back in the day for McGee Motors and traveled to Europe many times bringing back new Porsches and was very active in the Porsche Club of America and SCCA. This is a restored, numbers matching example with the original European heating system in place, operating like new. The original panels are all in place with no sign of rust except for the battery box floor which has been replaced with a Factory panel due to battery acid damage. Gaps are excellent and all gaskets (doors, windows) have beenreplaced with new. Correct Factory Light Ivory was applied during the windows out, panels and doors off restoration done this year. Carpetshave been replaced with the correct German square weave materialwith the colors as indicated on the Kardex. Interior door cards, dash pad and rear panels are original and in excellent condition. Thetires, muffler (Euro), tail pipes, battery, and tail lights are new, the clock has also been restored and keeps perfect time. Thecorrect Solex carbs have been rebuilt by a well known East Coast expert. The car retains its original 6 volt system.
This is an excellent example of the most developed 356 ever built by Porsche. The transmission shifts smoothly and the car drives and handles as you would expect of an original, keeping up with modern traffic with ease. If you are looking for a356SC that you can drive and enjoy, this is it.
