Description

1979 5 Speed Porsche 928 VIN # 9289200332 for sale
If you are looking for $5-10K 928 please keep looking as this is NOT one of those.
Actually mileage of this 928 is unknown as for those that know 928's the little plastic gear in the odometer always fails. This one was replace when the cluster was fully serviced and odometer was reset to 0 at that time. Now reads 40 miles.
The car was originally imported to Beverly Hills California in 1979 as it states in original maintenance booklet. At some point it was imported to Alberta Canada where it spent the majority of it's time in storage and not driven. It is evident it was always in a dry environment. Car is 99.9% rust free. It had 2 owners in Alberta and now I have it in Ontario Canada. Car is believed to be a low mileage car based on it's overall condition prior to restoration.
When I bought the car sight unseen from Alberta the owner completely mis-represented it's condition and I was badly taken by him. I have spent the last year and a half doing a near perfect full restoration with bills in excess of $15 000.00 USD and receipts to prove which will be passed along to the new owner. Car will also come with a full set of factory shop manuals, quality car cover, and many many spare parts ( if desired by new owner). Everything on this 928 was gone over, serviced and/or replaced with new with the exception of the suspension and exhaust (original). Muffler will most likely need replacing at some point as a previous owner has done some awful Frankenstein patch work to it. My plan was to replace it with a new Borla system for $700 USD.
Paint is a dark Grey metallic and a 8.5/10. Looks really good overall but does have the odd minor scuff and/or swirls. One minor blister on passenger door the size of a pea. A couple small stress cracks in right front bumper surround.
Interior is new Pasha at a huge expense to me.
What sets this 928 apart from many is of course the 5 Speed but also what many enthusiast enjoy is the lack of sunroof, no bump strips on sides and manual seats vs electric.
The following is a partial list of work done/replaced and/or serviced:

Car is in my opinion 90% fully restored.
Reason for selling.... both my kids need braces!
Disclamer:
1- Even though Clutch is brand new it still requires additional bleeding as there is still some air trapped in the master cylinder- this is common. Shifts fine, however, up shifting not so.
2- Muffler-original
3- Suspension is fine but my guess it is original- Car is high in front from being on jacks for so long-also common for the front to take a while to settle back down. Requires front alignment because of steering rack rebuild and tie-rods replaced.
4- Fuel/air or CO levels require fine adjustment- haven't found someone local that is skilled at this and I don't own proper gage. At same time timing and idle are done.
5- Is an A/C car but condenser is missing ($200 new on Ebay) all plumping still in car and I have the pump which will go with car. Wire is there to hook up.
6- 2 small flaws in roof liner from age other wise interior is near perfect.
My total costs into this 928 are somewhere around $26k not including any of my labour- about 900+ hrs
I hate to see this car go but as they say my loss your gain. Reserve will be set at a reasonable price for the value of this 928 and barely cover new parts alone.
I do have a dated appraisal of $23K which I will included along with an inch thick folder of receipts since that appraisal.
Car is being sold as is where is with no warranty implied or expressed. I will aid with loading at my end. May not be able to pass California smog as some of the emissions where by-passed by previous owner.
Please don't ask for more pictures as car is in deep storage in Sarnia Ontario Canada-but if you are serious I can do my best.....
Thank you for looking....! and please only bid if finances are in place.
