The Daytona Spyder replica gained it's fame when it was used in the 1st,2nd & 3rd seasons of the Hottest Cop Show of 80s "Miami Vice". The black car driven by Don Johnson aka Sonny Crockett was also a replica built on a C3 Corvette. Fer@ri executives were not pleased that one of their products was being represented on TV by a replica, so the Daytona was eventually destroyed on-screen and replaced with an Original Testarossa (newest model at the time).
Daytona replicas are even more rare than the originals, as fewer were produced. Also Original Daytona Spyders now sell for over a million dollars.
This beautiful Tom Mcburnie Daytona Spyder was built on a 1976 Corvette & powered by a 350 5.7L SBC with automatic transmission. Engine was upgraded & dressed in all chrome, High Performance water pump, cooling fans and more (see pictures) Also features a mirror finish Black exterior, Tan interior with Black inserts, Black canvas convertible top with black boot, power windows, door poppers, a FULL trunk, Plexi-Glass head light cover, Stewart Warner Gauges, Fer@ri lenses, badges, emblems & Vitaloni Mirrors and sits on 4 BF GoodRich tires with Chrome Vintage Wire Wheels both in Very Good Condition.
