Rolls Royce Powered Vanden Plas Princess 4-Litre R Limousine
Description
Please keep in mind while viewing this information that this vehicle is 50 years old and has never been restored. 1966 Vanden Plas Princess 4-Liter R. The Princess was a joint venture between Rolls Royce and the British Motors Corporation which built these cars between 1964 and 1968. A total of 6,555 cars were produced and it is my understanding that only1,200with left hand drivemade it to the USA. The Princess is the only civilian car to be powered by a Rolls Royce engine other than Rolls Royce and Bentley. The engine is an all aluminum inline 6 cylindermodel FB60 equipped withtwin SUcarburetors, followed by a model 8 Borg Warner 3-speed automatic transmission, and I have read that with this drive train the Princess would cruise best at 90MPH (it has a 140MPH speedometer). The current ownerpurchased this Princess 24 years ago from a friend, and it was in immaculate condition inboth looks and drivability(the Missouri title will verify the purchase date). The car was immediatelyparked in the garage, and has not moved or saw the light of daysince. The car currently has 44,874 actual miles. The car still wears it's original factory paint and may have 3 or 4 door very minor dings. One reason thepaint has survived so well over the years is because it had a "Ming" procedure done when it was new (see sticker in right wing window). Thecar is very solid, rust free, and has never been involved in any accidents. The chrome trim is also very nice. The windshield has a vertical crack on the passenger side, but all of the other glass is excellentwith no discoloration. Overall the interior isalso very nice, the leather seats and the door panels arevery nice, the carpets have always been covered and look new. The laminated Birdseye maple on the dash, the Burl walnut on the doors and fold down picnic tables in the back are starting to show age and the laminate is cracking, this cars conditiondeserves to have this wood refurbished. This is a100% original, complete caralso including the factoryworkshop manual, drivers handbook, both tool kits, and even the original Vanden Plas key ring with serial numbered originalkeys. All of the lamps and lenses are still the original Lucas brand and are in excellent condition. Due to the long term storage the car is currently not drivable, the engine is free and will turn over. It was parked with fuel in the tank, so the fuel tank will need to be cleaned along with the fuel lines and I am sure the twin carbs will need a rebuild. The brakes are front disc and rear drum and still have a pedal, but with pressure applied go to the floor, the brakeswill also need attention. The tires appear to be near new (Firestone 721's, but they are at least 24 years old and will need to be replaced. If you are a Prime Minister,a Hollywoodcelebrity, or just a regular guy wanting to own the very first Vanden Plas Princess Limousine in your neighborhood, and have the funds to purchase, the ability to do a very minimal restoration, then this may be the one you have been looking for. Good Missouri title, in owners name and car will be transferred when payment in full has been made. I have tried to describe this car to the best of my ability, but probably missed something that you would like to know, if so just ask. If you would like to inspect this car in person prior to the end of the auction, again just ask and arrangements will be made. Since this car will need to be transported to it's new home, the buyer will be responsible for all related transportation costs. Helploading or assisting the transporter can be provided on this end if needed. Thanks for looking, have a great day, and good luck in the bidding. This is really a nice vehicle in amazing condition!!
