Hello. I am offering my 1956 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud I up for sale. It is Right Hand drive (original) and complete. The car has been in California since the early 1970s, always in the Palm Springs / Palm Desert area. It starts, runs and drives well.I started re-doing it a couple of years ago. The engine had a lot of work done, so it is running nice and smooth. Starts, runs, drives and shifts well. The brakes do not work well. They slow down the car, but not enough to drive on public streets. All new belts and hoses flown in from England, no leaks. New paint. Recent new leather upholstery. The wood on the dashboard and windows needs to be refinished. The steering wheel is cracked on the surface in many places, even though the steel underneath is still good. There is some rust underneath, but from what I can see nothing too serious. But I am also not an expert on this. I already have a box with all new rubber for the car, window seals, door weather stripping, rubber under the lights, door handles, etc.. This box is included.
Odometer reads 7,000 miles, but that is 107,000 miles.
At this time I am running out of patience, time and money to carry the project any further.
The car has been parked in storage in Cathedral City / Palm Desert for the last couple of months. It has current tags and insurance, as I used to drive it around once in a while. The car can be shown at that location with prior appointment. I have a vacation condo in Palm Springs, so I start up and warm up the car at least every second weekend or so.
In case it is sold, it has to be towed because of the brakes.
Please contact me with questions.
07/04/2019: IMPORTANT UPDATE: I went yesterday to run the car for a while and I noticed the following: This car is a Bentley S1 / Rolls Royce Silver Cloud 1 combo. The hubcaps and pedals are Bentley. The title says Rolls Royce, the grill is Rolls Royce, the instruments are Rolls Royce. Seems to me like it started as a Bentley and was later converted to Rolls Royce. There are only very small differences between those two cars for that year. Not being an expert, I will have to go with the vehicle title which says Rolls Royce.
