1970 Shelby GT500 427 Tunnel Port 7K Miles
Description
1970 Shelby GT500 427 Tunnel Port 7K Miles — Here is a rare and unique Shelby GT500. It has only 7,432 original miles. The car was sold new right here in Central Florida at Johnny Bolton Ford, now known as Don Reid Ford. This car is documented in the Shelby registry. It is mostly original paint, never any rust. The car was on the cover of the 1987 Shelby registry. Also, it found itself on the front cover of Super Ford’s 1987 August issue. The article inside was titled “Born to Be Wild” by Dr. John Craft. The car was first purchased by Mr. Howard. Upon delivery, he purchased a 427 Tunnel Port performance engine thru Ford and had it installed. This engine was not available in production cars.
In 1973, Mark Fischer, a owner of a service station who maintained the car for Mr. Howard, took ownership. He raced the car in the mid 70’s. In 1975, Carroll Shelby presented him with the 1st place trophy at the summer national in Wichita, Kanas. Carroll Shelby told Mark that he was using the car as he intended them to be used. In 1984, the car was acquired by Matt Johnson, one of the owners of Power by Ford Performance Shop. It remained in his care for nearly 20 years. At one point, Mark Fischer the 2nd owner, was reunited with his dream machine until in February of 2011 it found it’s way into my garage for the 1st time. It has been driven approximately 250 miles in the last 5 and a half years. For more information on this vehicle please call Don at Vantage Sportscars 407-753-2015, or on his cell 407-753-2015.
