1965 Shelby GT 350 Clone-Replica-Tribute that everyone thinks is real.
Description
I have actually been taking care of this car since 1987, when a good friend of mine bought it. It was an "A" code fastback with 4 speed top loader. He was so excited. Over the years we just kept working with it to get it to the way we wanted. To my knowledge it has never been hit. Over the years it has ran about 2 open tracks and at least 5 car shows a year. Lots of trophys. Two years ago my friend had a major helicopter accident where a rotor hit him in the head. He has now passed on. after 2 years+ in the Hospitals. I purchased the car from his wife to keep it for him! He has now passed and I actually have three real GT-350 and need the room. So it's time to find her a new home. Now lets get to this really great car. R serial number means San Jose car. I think it's been registered in California it's whole life. Dic, my friend had owned it since 1987. He got personalized plates then, but it had black plates when he bought it. Correct black (VOM) plates now. Clear California Title in the safe. That's the legal stuff. Color is correct for GT-350-s with optional Lemans stripes. Paint is good but not perfect. Naturally no rustor panels replaced. To my knowledge it hasn't seen rain in over 25 years and always garaged. Glass and chrome nice but not new. Was redid back in late 90's. Engine has a big list. 306 cu inches. Mexican 302 block with Program Engineering Caps. Steel Crank and Boss Rods with Apr 8740 Bolts. Melling blueprinted pump and Canton Road race pan. Shelby Oil filter cooler adaptor and 11" by 9" G and J aircraft cooler. All lines Aircraft. Cylinder heads are Ford 351 cast iron reworked by Juan Mendoza at Flow Tech. Valves 202/160 Manley Stainless. Comp Billet Roller Cam with Comp Roller Rockers. Shelby intake, Holley 650 blueprinted double pumper. Ignition is Ford Autolite blue printed with Pertronix II ignitor and coil. Naturally brass gear and MSD wires cut to fit. Hears the interesting part built it about 15 years ago and freshened it up about 5 years ago. It was perfect then and runs great now. I don't think the car gets to run more than about 2000 miles a year. Which means the fresh engine 5 years ago only has about 10,000 miles. When we dynoed the engine way back then it was a hair over 350 HP at 6500on pump gas (9.3:1 compression). One other interest thing about the engine. It was built by Larry Molicone (Auto Dynamics). If you don't know the name he has been building some of the fastest race engines for over 65 years. He's 84 now and you can watch him doing engines on The BIG RED Original Outlaw Racer program on TV. This is RJ Gotliebs Famous Camero. The engine is extremely dependalble. Trans is Wide Ratio Toploader with original Ford shifter. Went through trans when we did the engine. It didn't need anything. We did switch the clutch to McLeod street twin. Two 10 inch disc. Extremely dependable and easy pedal pressure. Rear is Versaille 9 inch Ford. 31 spline spline axles and Ford disc brakes. The 3:25 gears work great on open tracks with wide ratio trans gears and keep your RPMs down on the freeway. Coated Dougs headers and nice 2 1/5 system with X-pipe and glass packs which 65 Shelby's used. Suspension has all the tricks. Global West stage 5 on Steroids. Koni Shocks all 4 corner. We do vintage race cars and all the race tricks are in this car. The nice part is we used the soft set up and it's great on the street. WOULD NOT, recommend driving in rain or on dirt roads. the bushing are Spherical. Orignal Shelby Cregars and BFG radial GT's for nice ride. If you want to open track switch to 7 inch Americans and 600/15 Goodyear Racing Sports Car Specials. You will be amazed. Most people looking at it really think it is a real GT-350. Look pictures over close, If you have any question just call 951-471-0348 Gary. This car is really fun to drive on the street and open track and brings home lots of carshow trophy's. Your welcome to come and look, just call. We will be glad to help with you picking it up. It is for pick up in Wildoma, Ca. If you are flying in we can pick you up at the airport. Would I be afraid to drive it home? NOT AT ALL, please stay outof the rain though! Happy Bidding!!!
