1965 Shelby AC Cobra CSX
Description
Original 1965 Shelby AC Cobra CSX24- - 289 slab side.
This Cobra was purchased new at Gotham Ford New York City in 1965. It is thought that it’s original owner traded the car in at Getti Ford in the spring of 1971. Getti Ford was a Ford dealership in Westchester NY where the son of the dealership Carter Getti peddled used Cobras in the back building. My uncle looking for a Cobra heard of Carter Getti and this dealership and decided to go there. He went to see 7 Cobra’s that he had for sale the cleanest and most cared for car was this 289 slab side with 30,000 miles on it. A deal was made to have the car painted blue from its original green and for its interior to be dyed to black from its original cream. The original motor was sent to Holman and Moody of Ford racing fame for a rebuild.
This car has been cared for and cherished by my uncle for all these years. The car now has 39,400 miles on it. The 9,400 miles he put on the car in the first 10 years of his ownership. The car has been in the family for 48 years. This car was in the Old Cars calendar in July of 1979 and is the same today as it was 40 years ago.
The Cobra came with group A accessories hard top, soft top, Tonneau cover, chrome wheels etc. All are still with the car and as shown on the original purchase order.
This car is a survivor and is very complete with low miles, original drive line and all CSX numbers on hinges and latches. The car runs and drives and can be used as is or a great base for a high end restoration.
This is a true no stories two owner car. Not sure how many more if any are out there like this.
