1963 Studebaker Avanti R-1
Description
1963 Avanti R-1, serial number 63R190, engine number R1511. I purchased this car in April of 2011. Car was sitting in a barn for 40 yearssince 1970 with 72,000 miles on it (oil change sticker on door shows 1969 at 70,513 miles). Engine was pulled and completely rebuilt by Wildhorse Performance in 2013 (have invoice and build list). Car has only been driven about 3 miles since then.Fuel tank has been pulled, cleaned and relined. All fuel and brake lines replaced.
Parts replaced (most through Studebaker International- have all invoices):- carburator- fuel pump- water pump- alternator- rebuilt p/s pump- brake master cylinder, discs, calipers and rear cylinders- total exhaust system- rebuilt starter- shock absorbers- electronic distributor (have original dual point distributor)- front bumper ends- headlight rings and gaskets- trunk release cable- voltage regulator- tach sending unit- power steering hoses- other small parts
PLEASE NOTE: Although much work has been done, this vehicle is still a project car. Pictures always improve the appearance of anautomobile. Car was unprofessionally painted before 1970 storage and is badly chipped. Original seats are in good shape except for some driver seat wear as pictured. Carpet is original with driver side wear. All glass is in very good condition. Has working original radio. All gauges work except for clock. Original head liner, steering wheel and dash in very good shape.
Work required:- windows roll up hard- transmission leaks fluid and probably needs rebuild (car does drive and shift, but should be checked out before going any distance)- power steering control valve leaks fluid- needs emergency brake cables- passenger side hog trough has small rust hole--driver side ok
