1938 StudebakerCommanderState
This is a 1938 StudebakerCommanderState Four Door. This is a very rare car that was a one year design and the cathedral headlights were only used on CommanderState and President Models (fewer than half the Studerbakers made in this year). It has the large 6 cylinder Flathead, 3 speed transmission with overdrive, (the overdrive does work). This car is nearly eighty years old yet with hydraulic brakes and a peppy six cylinder is quite drivable in today's environment.
Painted an original optional color available in 1938: Lake Louise Blue.I am listing this for a friend who has owed the car for about 20 years. The car is in Kent Washington and you can call the owner, Don directly if you have any questions at 253 854 0678.If you leave questions on Ebay please allow time for me to get a hold of Don for your response.
The car has had a complete frame off restoration with the engine rebuilt; machine work on the engine was done by Pacific Machine Shop in RentonWashington who is respected for their engine work on vintage auto engines for many years. The car was nearly rust free and is restored completely with the only modifications from original are changing it to a 12 volt electrical system and adding a duel brake master cylinder. All glass is new safety glass; new Coker 16" wide white-wall radial tires. It drives quite well, and looks great and roomy with suicide rear doors. .A complete new interior with materials as close to original as available. The only thing that does not work is the original radio and the right rear door does not open, the owner has the parts to fix the rear door but has not had time to repair, parts will go with the car.
It is very hard to determine the value of this vehicle. There appears to have been only one sold in Hemmings in the past three years and only one sold on EBay in the past 30 days. Both these vehicles were good original cars not restored and sold for $8000.The value of this car that is fully restored should be about $18.000.This car is listed for one week with a starting price of $8,000.
