Description

Up for auction is this rare, original survivor, 1962 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk. This Hawk, has the original numbers-matching 289 V8 and the rare factory 4-speed transmission option with the original floor shifter. Body is clean and straight and mechanically she starts, runs, drives and stops, and is a perfect candidate for full restoration... or just add a little elbow grease over the winter and have a really sharp weekend cruiser by spring.
This was a CA car until I bought it, and has been stored under cover ever since, so it has never seen New England rain, snow, or road salt. The only rusted out area is a small spot in the trunk at the body mount, where these cars are known to rust out, but the replacement patch panel is included in the sale. Other than that I know of no rot or rust-through anywhere else on the car. However there are a few small rust spots and some surface rust here or there (see pictures).
All glass is in place and intactwith no delamination, and all windows go up and down as they should.
Car comes with two complete sets of keys and includes the trunk and glove box key. Also comes with a box of extra parts that I just never got around to installing: includes two brand new side mount mirrors, o.e.m. padding for dash, various new and used trim pieces and badges, extra fan belt, extra hoses, service manual and many other parts. As stated above, she does start, run, drive, shift and stop, but she does need some work to be street legal. Some of the toggle switches on the dash need to be cleaned or replaced so that all lights and instruments will work again, replacement dual exhaust system was started and has been run from the engine to where mufflers will go. Mufflers and tailpipesstill needed, which will allow you to tune the exhaust to the sound you prefer.Build sheet says it was silver, but now it's several shades of blue and most of that is faded -- and some is actually peeling off the trunk due to sitting under a cheap car cover (see picture).
It was a daily driver all of its life so mileage should be expected to be over 100k (no way to know).
This would make a great winter project and you could be driving her come spring! With a little elbow grease, new carpets, front seat covers, door panels and a Macco paint job you could have a great weekend cruiser. Or if your inclined to invest the time and money into a full restoration you could end up with a $25,000 car! The best part is that you can be driving her while you fix her up.
Please note that the "ranch" pictures were taken before it was shipped to me from CA although some newer pictures are also included. She's several years older now so maybe not quite as pretty, but still straight and solid. Also, the person who sold me the car kept the whitewalls that are shown in the pictures. I never got them, so I can't include them in the sale. It will come with older black wall tires that should be fine for transport but should eventually be replaced.
Car is sold with Bill of Sale and a copy of the 2017 NH Registration only. CA title was not transferred to me properly, so I could not get a NH Title and none was needed to register the car up here in NH. I'm trying to trace down the last owner to correct the title but that may not happen in time for this sale (if at all).Message me if you have any questions.
The asking price on this car is very reasonable and is considerably lower than the price of similar cars of this quality, but offers will still be considered.
