This Commander was originally bought in Pasadena CA and the owner opted for air conditioning rather than power steering.In 1955 Studebaker did not have the option of both so the buyer had to choose power steering or air conditioning. Living in Pasadena the choice was air conditioning first. This car had one owner until her death when her son inherited it and drove it until 1997. It sat until 2015 when I bought it and started having it restored.The things I have done include:a 12 volt conversion,a full engine rebuild and the engine bay has been cleaned and resprayed while the engine was out.Automatic transmission reconditioning,a new interior from SMS original materials,New brakes,New tires,New power window motors,New air conditioning system,New exhaust system,Fuel system cleaned,And many other minor items.
This '55 Studebaker Commander has an automatic transmission, PW and Air conditioning.This is the hardtop Commander Starlight Regal Coupe.
The 3 speed automatic transmission has lock-up torque converter.The electric system has been converted to 12 volt.The exhaust is fairly new, but a little louder than normal.The engine has had a full rebuild in 2018.The transmission has been reconditioned in 2018 with new seals and lubricants.The tires were new in 2016.The brakes have been redone.The glass is all original.The car runs drives and stops is currently registered and insured in California.Shipping is all up to the buyer but I will surely do what I can to assist the buyer in shipping and delivery.The exterior is untouched the paint seems to be the original paint.The photos are unaltered honest photos but they do make the car look better than it does up close.The car is located in San Diego and viewing/inspection is available upon request.Please understand that a PayPal deposit of $500.00 USD will be due in 48 of auction end to avoid relisting and cancellation.
